Default First PS3 bioshock screens released

Quote:
The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly features some new information on the forthcoming PlayStation 3 port of 2K Games’ popular shooter, BioShock.

First and foremost, the publication states that the graphics will be the same as the Xbox 360 version, although there is a possibility they may receive some minor upgrades.

The PS3 iteration will also incorporate all the Plasmid and other ramifications released for the 360 version via downloadable content right out of the box, with the developers stating they are working with Sony to possibly "extend and augment the game.”

2K Boston added, "whatever we end up with via our discussions with Sony, coupled with the fact that BioShock allows you to go through and roll your own shooter in the first place...these two factors together would turn into a motive for replay."

Stay tuned for more information on the PS3 version of BioShock as it becomes available.

sounds yummy.. seems there might be a chance that the PS3 version of bioshock might get some exclusive stuff.

in the words of cygnus ...so now "to get the full experience of bioshock, you should buy a ps3 and bioshock for the ps3"

Wonder if they can get 60fps out of it?

It's lovely on my PC. I can pull over 100fps during most of the game.

Why do console have to suck at frame rates? Don't answer, just rhetorical.

Either way. PS3 only owners, you're in for a real treat. This game won't change your life, but it will steal 20hrs of it.

Enjoy. I was hooked.

BTW

The ending is this big fish, and if you shoot it in the head you get the regular ending which is about the main characters experience in the great depression. If you shoot it in the tail, you get to hear the backstory about the ninja who makes cameos throughout the game.

graphics look the same.
So much for the console war.

THIS console is the BEAST! NO! That one is!

What a joke that's turned into.

I know you said don't answer, but basically it's because they feel a few extra effects and polygons are more important. Personally I'd take 60fps and "dumbed down" visuals.

Wonder if the PS3 exclusive stuff will become DLC for the Xbox version, or if they're going to be bastards and make me take them up on "great for newcomes and Bioshock veterans" stance

they are in talk with sony, so i think whatever "extra" stuff they add, will be ps3 exclusive. at the same time the PS3 version is going to get all the downloadable stuff the 360 version got, but its going to be right out of the box. i dont think i'll be buying this game but i sure do want to play a demo or at least rent it

Normally I'd make some rude comment making fun of the PS3 guys, but this game is fantastic, and its a crime for anyone to have gone without playing it.

I am going to play through it again after I beat Ninja Gaiden II a few hundred times.

I am debating whether to wait for the PS3 version or get the 360/PC version. I saw the PC version as low as $19.99.

If you have the hardware, drop for the PC version. It has the best graphics, you can use either a 360/PS3 controller if you wish, and if your a KB+M guy, you can't beat that.

Only issue I had with the PC version was the stupid SecuRom protection.

I thought of doing that with CoD4 as well. I think I may have the PC for it. Quad core q8800, 4g ram. My only concern is if my Geforce 8500 can handle games like Bioshock and CoD4.

You have a good CPU and tons of RAM, the only problem I see is the Geforce 8500.

I know nVidia and ATI got slammed for their mid-range GPUs in the 8-series and HD 2x00-series.

I think the game should still run fine, just not on OMG settings. Probably medium on with a moderate resolution.

You can always download their respective demos and see what you think. Then buy if you enjoy, if not pick it up for your preffered console.

My card is spec'd lower than yours (but it's an EVGA, so it has less bad transistors) and I can run both COD4 and Bioshock way better than either console.

Only problem I see is that Intel processor. Better get that thing out of there fast. Pretty sure you can't even run Commander Keen with an Intel CPU. Those things are like 1/10 the physical weight of their respective and dominative AMD counterparts.

Return the CPU, buy a AMD Phenom, and you'll have enough money left over for Bioshock, and you're PC will no longer have the Intel plague and your friends won't think so low of you anymore.

OMG you didn't!

Haha, you should look at the new tri-core AMD Phenoms. They cost more, and in performance-per-cost were out performed by Intel Dual Core Wolfdales and barely won on multi-thread applications.

3 is better than 2, but 2 performances better than 3 in 80% of real world applications (of which gaming is one of those non-multithread applications.)

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=3293&p=8

Hehe. AMD was king with the K7-series, to bad the K8 can't compete with the new Intel families.

Quote:
If you step back and look at it, the triple-core Phenom story isn't unexpected at all. In applications where quad-core benefits, triple-core does too and in those applications where it doesn't, we don't see much from the new Phenom X3...AMD's triple-core Phenom is a quick and dirty way of using Phenom to compete in the dual-core space.

AMD doesn't have the resources to spin a dual-core Phenom die, so what better way of repurposing the quad-core die (especially if one core is defective) than to make a Phenom chip with less than four cores....

Let's start at the Phenom X3 8750; it's priced too closely to the X4 9750 to make sense, if you need more than two cores spend the extra $20 and get a quad-core (or give up 200MHz and get a quad-core X4 9550 at the same price) and if you don't need more than two cores then you're looking at the wrong CPU to begin with.

The Phenom X3 8650 manages to perform at about the level of a 2.00GHz - 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor in many applications, the problem is that it needs to compete with a 3.00GHz Core 2 Duo to make economic sense. In many cases, the 8650 is competitive but with higher power consumption it's hard to call it a winner here.
I've been waiting years to say "HA" to you AMD fanboys! Hehe. Intel is king, again, like it should be!
