Wasn't the original Xbox at like 24 or 25 million in total sales? If so, I guess the X360 still has a while to go, and the PS3 has a LONG way to go to hitting PS2 numbers that continue to sell well.

We know for a fact that multiple people here own multiple 360's. Some of them for a backup, some of them because they want one in each room of their house (yeah. ok...)

I personally know 3 people that have a Pro or Elite and an Arcade that they swap the HDD onto when one of them goes awry.

Microsoft's actual sales numbers are in fact overinflated due to the "backup" mentality that some people are taking. How much? I don't know, but Kam's guess at 25% wouldn't be too far out of the question I don't think.

doubtful.. but if they where.. SHAME ON M$!. .. does M$ send a brand new 360 to you in warranty or a refurb one?.. sony sends your a refurb PS3 for in warranty exchange.. .. if M$ is sending brand new ones out and counting those towards sales#.. wow thats some fucked up shit then

I doubt M$ counts warranty replacements as 'sales'. I've read that around the web before but I think it's just PS fanboys spreading fud.

M$ has just been recently accused of reselling refurbed 360's in other countries besides the US as 'new' recently. I also don't really see a problem with that if they truly are refurbished, only difference between here and other countries is that they might not be required to label it as a factory refurbished unit.

God this is such a PS3 fanboy forum now it's starting to get annoying. Claims that 25% of Xbox owners have multiple consoles is a joke, if any numbers were that high I think you'd be seeing it around the net somewhere.

While its easy to look at a group like ours, which is a very small gaming community and also has a lot of disposable income, and say "Hey well there are people here who have bought multiple 360s so why not everywhere else?" It's just not that simple... we aren't like everybody else in America or the world. Most people aren't going to buy a second console just because theres broke, they'll return it to Micrsoft and wait for a refurb.

Stop using anecdotal evidence and generalizations to make broad predictions and spread FUD. Thank you.



Just for the record, of the almost 20 people I know that have an Xbox 360 not a single one of them has bought a second. That number soundly dwarfs the people here who have... does that make me more right now?

Umm Microsoft themselves said the first model 360's have a 100% defect rate. So a 25% failure rate definitely is not out of the question.

I very much doubt even MS would count refurb 360's but I bet 360's replaced under in-store warranties(new direct replacement) do get counted in the numbers.

That's because you're on the other side of the fence. From where I sit, I'd say it's pretty evenly matched. You type enough to equal for the Wii what the 360 group combined and the PS3 group combined contribute.

One thing I'm VERY grateful for though is we don't turn into a bunch of whiny 10 year olds. Other than the occasional catiness, myself included, we stay pretty calm here. I appreciate that.

No, it doesn't make you more right. It's just a different experience. Sharing the experience that I've had is not spreading FUD. I have no intention to sway anyone away from purchasing a new 360. Or a backup for that matter. I have said many times over that when the price drops to $299 for the Pro (or equiv), I will buy one, RROD be damned.

I own three Xbox360s. Only one is connected.

One still has a dead disc drive (pro,) I bought my Elite because I wanted the HDMI (yeah I know) which recently got towelled due to a dying disc drive, and I have a Halo Edition still in the box.

I'm debating buying the Gun Metal MGS4 PS3. I probably will, but sucks its a 40GB. It should be an 80GB for $600, it seems like Konami is gouging MGS fans.
