I have a 65" Mitsu DLP and love it. I've never had a problem. More screen for the buck. I would guess they are all pretty good at this point.

I recently bought a 52" Sony XBR4 LCD and I hate using it for gaming! The picture is nice as hell, but the input lag is definitely noticeable when playing fast paced games. I noticed it immediately after hooking up my 360 and playing COD4. You can still see it even if "gaming mode" is on. My prior tv is a 42" Sony rear projection LCD and it's leaps and bounds faster than my new tv. If I had bought my tv mainly for gaming then I wouldn't hesitate to return it.
I read a few threads about input lag to find a cure and it seems that the problem is most common in flat panel LCD's. Some good advice is to take your gaming system to the store and test out your choices before purchasing. |

Wow, Id be pissed if my brand new sony tv did that...does the PS3 also lag on this xbr4? If the ps3 isnt as bad it gives a whole new meaning to the term 'proprietary.'

My games on my PS3 look amazing on my Sony 46XBR3. I play COD4 and there's no lag. I sold my 42" Samsung plasma due to excessive burn in. It had a nice picture but I can't help you with the burn in. LCD all the way.

Good thread. I might buy another HDTV this year. Looks like LCD is better for gaming? Plasma still gives the darkest black, thus edge for movie watching? Which is better for a bright room?

so yes for bright room viewing LCD are kings. anti glare and anti relfection is lovely! plus adjustable backlight then you can increase the intensity of the picture in bright viewing conditions or lower it in darken rooms. |

But plasma TV's still do have the absolute best blacks and absolutely NO lag time, one of the most important things to gamers. No burn in issues either, as of late.

I completely second that emotion
I know you are asking between LCD and Plasma, but unless you are hanging it on the wall you might as well go DLP. Cheaper, still pretty slim and light.

So DLP is about the same as plasma in terms of dark blacks and can be in bright rooms like LCD? A coworker recently bought a DLP. How slim is DLP? I understand its not as thin as plas/lcd. Any weakness with DLP?
