Yeah, the M16 is not the best at close range but you can do worse. If you're using the M16 w/ ACOG (or ANY gun w/ ACOG) scope at close range when you're face to face with an enemy you're f*cked, but if you're just using red dot you're ok. It depends on how experienced and comfortable you are with your weapon. For my style of play, the M16 is the best weapon.

I goof around with other guns, but the M-16 is a people killer.
We've got a pretty similar class. Hey, you up for some COD4 this weekend? I've got my Saturday all clear and want to get some Team Tactical in. You game?

I agree with the M16, I use it with red dot, stopping power and deep impact. It's great for shooting snipers. Once you get used to it, you can be effective on close range maps as well. Overall I think it is the most complete weapon. Love it on the Bog..

I am on the 8th or 9th prestige level (the red dot with gold star behind it, wichever that is). So I have tried about every combo out there & my best seems to be the following:

GUNS
M4 Carbine or G36 w/ red dot
P90 w/ red dot
Stun Grenade

PERKS
Bandolier
Overkill
Martydom (funnest perk, as I love when I get killed & see the opponent walk over me & I always say "get ready to die"...boom...+5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Special Class I only use on Shipment or Waterworks maps
P90
Desert Eagle

PERKS
3 Frags
Juggernaut
Martydom
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SNIPER CLASS
I use the M40 until I unlock the Barret .50 Cal
Desert Eagle
Stun Grenade

PERKS
Claymores
UAV Jammer
Deep Impact

Default couldn't find a match...

Ok, so COD4 arrived Monday, and I played through a bit of the campaign last night. But whenever I would try to jump online, it never could find a match. Of course, since I'm just starting out, only the first three are available to me. Even just standard deathmatch wouldn't load up. It kept saying, "Getting a Match" or something similar in the upper right corner. This was at about 11:15 PM CST.

Very irritating. Anyone else have this problem?

Biobooster- I'll be there, pick a time.
Regarding the choice of gun, environment is everything. If you are on certain levels, you have absolutely no chance with the P90. If there are long, open fields of fire, like the Russian Missile site or the Overgrown farm, you will get picked off, sprinting or not. I hate the indoor levels and the ones with no room to operate. Hell, I hate the ship (Wetworks), but the P90 would be perfect for it. All that taken in to account, I'll take the M-16 on most levels.

Even with stopping power, the M4 is pretty weak. I use it some, but not a favorite.

I like the low recoil. I use the M16 sometimes, but it blows in close quarters. I like to hang onto my pistol because you can switch to it twice as fast as switching to another rifle or smg, and it can save your ass if you go dry in a fire fight.

I still use the M16 on some of the more open levels. I'm trying to unlock the P90 now, but I play in spurts. I'm only a level 22. I can't stop playing through the campaign. I must have beat every level 20 times by now.

Crysis is eating up a LOT of my FPS time, and it makes other FPS games seem a little meh.

The p90 is an m-4 on steroids. VERY high rate of fire, decent damage, a bit more reload time than the M4, but you'll love it on the Shipment level or anything close quarters.

i've had similar problems when searching with a party, but what normally happens is some of the part gets in while others are left out, requiring us to leave. check your NAT setting as that may be the culprit. other than that, Infinity Ward said they were looking into it.

Ok. I'm a Mac kind of guy. ie: Things are supposed to just work. Where would the NAT setting be? PS3 or Router?

it is a setting on the router, but i'm not entirely sure how to change it. you should be able to google search and find out, but i'll talk to some friends that have been through it to see what they say.

i'm not sure about the PS3, but with the 360 you can run a network test that tells you all sorts of info about your connection, including whether or not your NAT is open, moderate, or strict (i think those are the possible settings). look around in the PS3 menu to find the equivalent network test (probably under system settings or something of that nature).

I don't know much about this kind of stuff either (Mac owner), but you can test your connection in the PS3 settings area and it will give you your NAT type. What all this means, I have no clue.
