Default Xbox 360 & XBL questions

I guess I kinda have a good problem, I have had my 360 for over a year and love it, then a few months ago I got hooked up to XBL so I could get killed by pre-teens and get to hear them get to say they "merc'd me" (wtf? still don't know exactly what that means LOL)

Well one day my wife noticed that XBL is capable of playing UNO online and she has since created her own XBL profile/gamertag and has been hooked ever since (obviously on MY 360 so now I have to "share" or she won't "share" if you get my drift LOL) So we are thinking about getting an Elite 360 (which I will get) and then she can have her own 360 (my old one) in another room.

What will we have to do to get this to work? I think we will want to have both her gamertag/info and my gamertag/info on BOTH machines, is that possible? or will we have to pay double?

I'm not really sure how to get this accomplished, any good advice will be appreciated.

You recover your gamertag to each console every time you switch. You do that in the blades on the live section, where it says recover gamertag. You have to put in your tag, email address, password. It is a pain in the ass to do. Steals 1 minute of your life
P.S. No you don't pay double, just $ for your tag, and then $ money for hers once

Any paid downloads, like XBL Arcade games, you WILL have to purchase again. But the XBL accounts can be on multiple boxes; you can just only sign in one at a time.

Thanks guys,

I bought the 360 Elite, but probably won't have time to do the switch/change until a week or two, hopefully everything will be as easy as I hope it is.

p.s. Good Luck Ntruder, hope the Packers win today, I'll be rootin for them myself (since the Rams didn't do much good this year)

One more question, I have my 360 hooked up to my DSL router and plan to do the same for the new 360 (I will then have *2* 360's on the same DSL) will I have any lag problems if we are BOTH playing at the same time? Anybody have any experience with this? Or will it really be no different than if I have a friend over and we are playing XBL split screen? (haven't had any problems with that so far)

That is going to be very dependent on what kind of uploading speeds your DSL service provides, and the speed of your router. My ISP only offers a 384 kbps upload speed, so I know that my connection wouldn't be able to support two consoles online at the same time. My router is also rather slow and i've noticed that my friend when he comes over can't play over XBL while i'm also browsing the internet at the same time as his games get too laggy.

it shouldn't matter if you have 2 xboxes hooked up to the same router. I have heard of people having some network problems when being hooked up to a wireless router.

Actually in the news, there was this user who kept getting spawn-hosed and ended up finding the xbox live user who kept rubbing it in his face by finding out his IP address, then actually went as far as locating the other user's physical address through the internet carrier and shot him!

I've had 3 on the same router. As long as they are Xbox approved, it shouldn't be a problem

If you know how to do this, please PM me with details. I have a long list of people whom I'd love to pay a visit.

Yes, it should. As stated before, this is entirely dependent upon the speeds your are receiving through your ISP; you'll want to do some speed tests too (www.speedtest.net) as what they quote to you as being the speed you are paying for and the speed you are actually pulling are always different, accounting for overhead. Another problem you may run into is that many ISPs only allow the acquisition of one IP address per modem, or only allow one MAC address to be recognized at a time. If this is the case with your ISP you will need to purchase a router and plug both of your 360s into it.

If you don't know how to do this, you should not be answering questions about bandwidth allocation proposed by other users. Not to sound like an ass, but there is no reason to steer a user in the wrong direction by telling him/her something that simply is not true.

I think this is incorrect. The games are associated to a gamertag. So as long as you are logged in under the tag that purchased it, they should be downloadable and playable. Using them on the 2nd box though will require being connected to Live.

That is true you can re-DL anything you have purchased on your Gamertag to the new 360 you ported your GT to..

It's the area of knowledge. Network administration. Plus there is a direct link if it's straight DHCP or static instead of PPPoE, because the bandwidth is regulated on a customer-by-customer basis, through their IP subscriber set up on their IRC cards.

This would almost have to be true. It would be a HORRIBLE mistake on MS's part if they required everyone to re-pay for all of their content every time they got a new system.
