Well, I didn't watch the conference either, but the Reuters report from the show that MS is considering an add-on BD drive was pretty interesting. I mean it was far from definite, but it gives me a little hope since I did not even realize they were open to it.

If the price is on point with the HD add-on I would be more then happy to go dual format that way.

there is no more duel format. its blu-ray or bust now. and for me i hope that M$ does create a add on becasue i really dont want to go out and by a PS3. It would nice to just get the add on to the Xbox and have it all right there. I think M$ will at some point create this for us. i just hope its sooner than later. becasue i have been watiting so long for all these smoke and mirrors to clear and have a clean cut winner so i can start my media collection. I have the HD-DVD add on and took a chance because at the time it was cheep at 199.99 and im willing to go by the Bl-Ray add on for the same price. thats still cheeper than buying a PS3

Well, I meant that I would be dual format if I bought an add-on BD drive, since I already have HD...
But regardless of that, just because WB is moving to BD (6 months from now, not tomorrow), it is not like there aren't dual formats anymore.

I still have dozens of HD disks, will continue to buy WB HDs for another 6 months, and there are still two Major Hollywood studios backing HD for now. Dreamworks just signed on what like 5 months ago? I doubt they are going to bail out any time soon and while I have heard rumors that Paramount is considering following WB, they are only that, rumors...

I am beginning to consider BD only because WB is such a big player and I do not want to miss out on huge titles like LOTR when they do eventually hit.

I for one do not feel that the war is over just because one studio was bought out by Sony. We are pretty much back to where we were a few months ago, trailing BD in studio support, but with a superior product and a lot of hope...

The real treat would be if MS released a DF add-on player and gave current HD drive owners some kind of rebate/discount on it.

I dont know eddie, we're talking about M$ here, the masters of the anti-trust lawsuits! Surely the BDA would not dare deny them their rights!

Still two major studios which happen to be the only remaining large studios out of the eight major studios

Dreamworks didn't sign a deal, Paramount who owns DreamWorks has signed a deal. A deal with an escape clause in case warner left or HD DVD was no longer profitable to produce disks for. So when you say Paramount is following BD so is DreamWorks

I'm looking forward to picking up LOTR on BD also! I can't wait!

Sony paid no money to "convince" warner to switch, both companies have publicly shot down that rumor (Besides even if they did the HD DVD folks did that to get Paramount to sign an exclusive deal)
No offense, and I hope you don't' take it the wrong way, how exactly is HD DVD superior technologically?

HD DVD's big hook was that it was cheaper to produce than BD, however, that gap is slowly closing to the point where currenlty it's only 25 cents a disk difference between the two for manufacturers. 25 cents for 10 more GB per layer. I'd certainly go for that.

They won't. They're pushing Direct Download very hard right now, something in which they have a very large vested interest in. if anything you'll see a 300GB HDD before a dual format player.
