Red face SAMSUNG DLP & VIDEO GAMES

I wanted to share my experience & clear up some issues for everyone

I have been on the phone with Samsung for about 7 days. I have the HLN507 now. The issue I will be addressing here is the synch issue with video games.

The product specialist at Samsung (Derek Banks) is THE person who tests video games for Samsung. He said "the ONLY DLP (for now) that does NOT have Synch issues is the HLP5067 (50"), the next series should not have the synch issues either & they are the HLR series which may not be out until July"

In case you missed it there is ONE that doesn't have synch issues, the HLP5067, there is NO fix.

I hope it is not too late for some of you

I have a Sammy DLP, and I hooked my XBox up to it. first I did it with the regular composite cables (yellow, red, white). the sync was off with it, but then I hooked it up with the Hi-Def component cables and the picture was immediately perfectly insync, and picture quality was fantastic.

I think the DLP's only have trouble processing the low quaility composite imputs. So use the component cables for your game systems and it works just fine!

Default Sammy & video games

I have a Sammy 6163W and run both xbox (halo2) and PS/2 (GT4) at 480p via component cables.

GT4 supports 1080i via component, but my set only goes to 720p.

Your 720p set also goes to 60 frames per second, which 1080i doesn't. Much smoother motion & no motion artifacts. Find some 720p games... you'll be blown away.

Default Lip Sync Issue

I talked to a Samsung customer service Rep at the home office a couple of days ago and was told that the lip sync issue had been addressed and was no longer a problem with 5063 sets being produced now. He also advised that Samsung was putting the Phillips bulb in all sets now so the early bulb burn out problem is fixed. Further advised that the Rainbow affect has been fixed. Is this true or just a line of Bull. Anyone bought a HLP 5063 in the past month or so? Problems.

I just purchased the 5063 and the lip sync was an issue with my prog scan toshiba dvd player but not as bad to not there on most movies with new samsung 720p dvd player w/ dvi cables in box. Still testing though, i see the prob on occasion and have the service plan so a may call the tech. only prob is i suspect the tech will not notice the prob and will be of little help? RAINBOWS still prevelent. i didnt notice till abt a week after purchase but not they are becoming very bothersome. especially with any high contrast black and white type images. I dont think this can be fixed? Please let me know if someone knows otherwise. I may exchange tv for LCD but not sure if its safe for games? does anyone know?
Thanks
B

LCD can't burn in. Supports 720p/60 like DLP. Great for games.

1080i on gt4 is nothing to cry about except if the car is standing still.
480p looks much smoother.
