360 problem. Please help

I was watching a netflix movie on my HD DVD drive 3 days ago and the movie locked up. Just took the disk out and put it back in and it played fine. Well yesterday another disk froze the 360 in the HD DVD drive so i put it in the 360 itself to watch the movie thinking it was the HD DVD player with the problem. Exact same thing happened in the 360 itself. The movie will play for less than a minute then the 360 locks up. Cant get it to go to the dashboard or anything. I messed with the 360 all the wires and I took the hard drive out ect last night and was able to play the movie. So today the same thing. Put a movie in the HD DVD drive and it played for less than a minute and locked up. I reset the 360 and now it froze on the intro screen. The part were the big green 360 logo comes on the screen right after starting. So with this being the 3rd movie and its happen on the HD drive and the 360 drive Im thinking my 360 is about to bite the dust. If anyone knows what might be wrong please let me know. Its a cool morning here and my downstairs is in the 60's so its not a heat issue. The problem I have is my 360 is out of warranty. Im only covered for the red lights of death now but I dont have those. Not yet anyway. Im gong to go try a game and see what happens but last 2 times i started it it would not even get as far as the title screen for the game before it locked up. Anyone know how to ahhh.. well you know make red lights come on so I can get this thing fixed?

Ok I just got COD3 to load. Watched about a 1 minute or so cut scene and it locked up a few seconds after the game started.

Just keep loading movies or games in it.. Usually once it starts locking up the 3rings will follow w/in a few days.

Thanks I will. My back is hurting so Im stuck at home with nothing to do. The 360 is my only DVD player so that kinda sucks. Hope it red rings soon so I can send it out. Guess I will have to find my old PS2 to watch movies. Now that I think about it I have never owned a stand alone DVD player. Right from a PS2 to the 360.

i could never use the 360 as my only DVD player. I tried with the HD-DVD add on but it drove me crazy during quiet movie scenes with the jet engine sound of the 360 cooling system. Recommend your drop the $30 on a standalone el cheapo walmart player while you're laid up.

I agree with Eck.....Mine was freezing on Stranglehold occasionally and then frequently (to the point where I could barely get to the main menu). As I was opening Halo3, my Red Rings showed up.

You guys were right. Just red ringed on me. Kinda happy because I think they have a fix for it now.
