Default xbox cant support 1080i but ps2 can

great news PS2 games will know support 1080i and 480p. The first game will be GT4 http://ps2.ign.com/articles/578/578635p1.html it seems that they found a way to display both resolution unlike the xbox that can only produce 720p.

Who told Xbox cannot support 1080i!? Im sorry but you are terribly WRONG!! Maybe you need to go back and check the Xbox specifications, better yet look here:
http://www.xboxgamers.com/index.php?...page.php&id=74
The Xbox is more advanced in its technology it can display 720p and 1080i!

No matter what PS2 or Xbox can display, neither look like a normal 720p or 1080i HD broadcast. Games are getting better, but they will have a ceiling as to how good the graphical resolutions will look on the current consoles.

Talking Finally playing GT4!

Any of you playing GT4 yet? Got mine last night. The game starts in 480i but you can switch the game to either 480p or 1080i. Sadly you must change this setting everytime. Graphics are nice, but quite different from Xbox's PGR2 and/or Rallisport2. And regretably there is no DolbyDigital (only ProLogicII). What a waste of an optical output. It's fascinating how much Sony/Polyphony get out of the rather ancient PS2. Hope to get much more 'testing' done this weekend. Cheers.

None of the current generation consoles are worthy high definition machines. To really see what hi def console gaming is all about we need to wait until the next generation console units arrive.

1080i is not really worth it on the Xbox but 720p which is still classed as High Definition is very good. There is still a lot of detail in the game graphics and the framerates run fine in 720p making it a good choice. 1080i on the other hand has to take a dive in graphics detail in order to keep the framerate up for playability.

PGR2 and Rallisport Challenge 2 look awesome. A bit better than GT4 even. Cheers.

Not on your life! I just got GT4 and it kicks both PGR2 and Rallisport Challenge 2 put together! Even at 576i!

I disagree. Xbox produces real HD and you can easily tell the graphics are sharper. We could continue this back-and-forth bit forever and never come to an agreement. Cheers.

Hehe we could argue back and forth, this is true

But you would have to agree at least the cars look better in GT4.

Indeed. Polyphony really knows how to model cars. If only they could make a game for Xbox. Wonder what Forza will look like. The demo kinda sucked. Cheers.
