Exclamation Overlord Playable Demo Available

I'm going to DL this one now.

As per TeamXbox:

Overlord Playable Demo Available
Press Release
Jun. 8th, 2007 8:36 am

There’s a minion horde ready to come tearing down your download pipe as Codemasters announces the release of the Overlord™ playable demo. The demo is now available from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox™ 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®; the PC demo will follow shortly.

In the demo, players don the Overlord’s illustrious armour, assemble a team of fighter minions and head off for a session of serious destruction in the once tranquil area of The Mellow Hills. As you descend upon the unsuspecting populace and wildlife that reside in the hills, use your loyal minions to gather life-force from the somewhat unwilling sheep, grow the size of your minion horde, and let the Halflings-gone-bad know there’s a new boss in town.

Top that off with minion upgrades (where else do pumpkins get used as minion helmets?), throw in some peasant intimidation and a show-down with the Guard Troll at the Slave Camp and you’ll have just as taste of the havoc that a minion horde can wreak.

In the full game, players will be able to amass armies of up to 50 minions and select from three further minion types to lead into battle. Then there’s the rest of the twisted domains to explore (and conquer), seven corrupt heroes to defeat, the Dark Tower to rebuild, and the Legion of Terror and other spells to unleash as you strive to be proclaimed the mighty Overlord!

Get ready to explore your more despotic side with Overlord™, coming June 29th for Xbox 360 and PC. Meanwhile, perfect your evil laugh with the playable demo, now available from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace with the PC demo following early next week at www.codemasters.com/overlord

Yeah, I downloaded this game and then the next day I fell victim to the Red Rings of Death. I can't wait to play this though. Anyhow called support and they're shipping a box. I was just glad that the rep spoke decent english. Normally I have to talk several decibals higher and talk like I would to a sixth grader.

Pick up Overlord yesterday after playing the demo. I have about an hour invested (so take that into consideration).

So far, so good! Game plays alot like the demo. There are a few extras in the actual game.

So far I have really enjoyed what I have seen. Graphics are average/above average. The camera controls are a bit to get used to sometimes, but not a major problem by any degree.

I don't want to give the game a numerical grade yet as I have only play for about an hour. I will say, so far, I have NOT regreted my decision to purchase Overlord.

More to come as I progress.....

What kind of evil deeds can you commit? I'm rather disappointed that they decided to give this game a T rating as I would have hoped there would have been more mature content.

Well, thus far it has lived up to the "T" rating. As far as specific DEEDS I pretty much have slaughtered everyone peasent I have seen. I am not sure what kind of "deeds" would make you happy. I don't think there is a button to command your minions to start grabbing the asses of all the school girls or anything... (possible idea for a sequel?)

I couldn't sum it up any better.

Its a fun game. The online is interesting and quite different from other online games as well. you basically can fight another overlord and his minions

That's a neat idea for a sequel, although you said it and not me. I'm just looking for ways to be really devious in a game. If it's a game about being evil, then the stuff should be really evil. Mature games that are good seem to be very few and far between these days. Sure we've got games like GoW and Halo 3 being rated M, but these games are barely mature in my opinion.
