Default MLB 2K7... PS3 vs. 360. IGN

PS3 MLB 2K7
Quote:
7.5 Presentation
The television styled presentation is hampered by slowdown, constant rendering passes and overused blur filters.
8.0 Graphics
Some faces look very close to their real life counterparts. Others are simply horrendous, and the visual tricks aren't doing them any favors.
7.5 Sound
Fresh pre-game dialogue from Zelasko and Physioc can't overwhelm stale lines from Miller and Morgan.
7.0 Gameplay
Some of the issues from last year have been fixed, only to be replaced by new ones. Bugs, ineffective Sixaxis control and other issues help hamper an enjoyable experience.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
The redesigned Franchise/GM Career will give you lots to do, but the slowdown and glitches will decrease your enjoyment of the game.

7.4 Decent OVERALL

7.9 Good OVERALL
WOW!!!!! this is indeed very very interesting to a sad point... both versions are 99.99% identical and yet IGN favors the 360 version. makes you wonder doesnt it.. if both reviews are identical "WORD-FOR-WORD" you would think both would get the exact same score.. yea its a sad sad world indeed. oh well.

Different standards?

The 360 demo sucks ass, so I'm passing.

Yeah...I'm passing too. The demo was so-so. I want a baseball game so immersive that it most likely can only be done on the next-next generation consoles. MLB2K7 doesn't do this for me at the moment...If they dropped the price?...

The reviews were identical. I wondered the same thing when I read it also b/c they didn't cite any diff in online options, online play, graphics, etc. I thought those may have been the diff in scores. Who knows?

From what you posted, the only difference seems to be in the "Lasting Appeal" (e.g. longevity) category. Did you read the entire review? Does PS3 version has the same online options as 360 (assuming 360 version has online play). Note that I have not read either review.

Heh thanx, I didn't notice that. Apparently nor did Eddie for his "99.99% identical" remark...

I will agree that it is annoying that they had it word for word yet different ratings. It seems as if the reviewer was too lazy to comment on why one got a lower review than the other.

We could speculate that even though its word for word, there was some slight difference that the reviewer noticed that they just couldn't put into words. Or perhaps they just don't like the PS3 or like the 360 better? Or they expect more from the PS3 version.

yea they said they where working on a demo for both the 360 and PS3. the 360 demo came out monday if im not mistaken.. sadly us PS3 users dont get the demo until this thursday since thursday is the day the store gets updated.

yes sadly both reviews are the same "WORD FOR WORD" the entire review all 3 pages. very odd isnt it. i read both reviews and then did a side by side of both reviews and every single world was the same, paragraph for paragraph.

the 360 version score a 0.5 higher in Presentation, last appeal and gameplay and overallscore. ... GAMEPLAY?! hmmmm werid.

but as Colt mention it could possibly be that both had different standards when they went to review them.. i dont know, maybe they did expect the PS3 version to be alittle better... who knows... still a very odd thing that has showed up.. and on top of it all ITS THE SAME GUY that reviews both of them.. very very strange.. hhhmmmm.

sorry i should have put 100% identical LOL.

Thankfully we still have MLB 07: The Show to look forward too on the PS3.

I was hoping 2k sports was going to put out a nice baseball game this year.

IGN has lame reviews anyway. I prefer gamespot reviews. Besides if the reviews are based on "working demos", then I really take it with a grain of salt. I always wondered how IGN gets reviews faster than gamespot.

If its developed by the same guys who did the NBA game, that is nothing to brag about. MLB games don't get near the budget (or sales) than NFL and NBA.

Remember, the lack of rumble affects the pitching dramatically in this game on the PS3. I BET the editor of the review will point this out if word gets back to him about his laziness.

As far as the 360 demo....could anyone move their batter around in the batter's box? I couldn't and it felt really stiff there.

And this may have something to do w/ the slightly lower gameplay rating on PS3.. the only thing that isn't identical.

7.0 Gameplay

Brag? I'll brag about how proud I am of my daugther or I'll brag about how great my younger brother and sisters are doing in school. But video games? Please, I'm not bragging about anything.

All I was doing was saying that since 2k7 looks to not be a great game (based on reviews), at least I still have "The Show" to look forward to. Last years game on the PS2 was great, and I hope that it's great this year too. Baseball is the game I will be playing the most every year, so it's exciting for me.

The Show was ok,but hardly anything spectacular. Much better than the old 989 games Sony used to pawn off,but still, second rate IMO.
