Your thoughts?
http://www.highdefforum.com/newthrea...newthread&f=48 Hop on the merry-go-round and hold on for dear life -- here's a Phil Harrison interview. In speaking to GameDaily BIZ, the Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president touches on several interesting topics, including "so called negativity" in the press, potential PS3 price drops and the omission of rumble technology in the Sixaxis controller. On negative press: Mr. Harrison isn't phased at all, pointing out that those who have purchased a PS3 have been naught but satisfied thus far. He goes on to say that negativity originates from "a fairly narrow section of the media" (Time Magazine and New York Times BURN) and that if there "were genuine criticisms, then of course we'll address them, but there's nothing that bothers me." Nothing at all? On PS3 price drops: Sony feels under no pressure to drop the price of the PS3 this year, expressing comfort with their current strategy and the level of software currently available. On the lack of rumble: Phil Harrison says motion controls offer far more opportunities to innovate than rumble ever did, adding that rumble is like, totally last-gen. "Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is." Analog stick, your days are numbered, my friend.

LOL!!.. funny. .. some rather annoying statements he makes that its impossible for me or anyone to agree on:
"On PS3 price drops: Sony feels under no pressure to drop the price of the PS3 this year, expressing comfort with their current strategy and the level of software currently available." -what the F-!! the level of software is like hardly anything, especially! in the department of "current exclusive titles available" i think theres like what? 3 exclusive titles available? maybe in the future yes, but certainly not right now. "On the lack of rumble: Phil Harrison says motion controls offer far more opportunities to innovate than rumble ever did, adding that rumble is like, totally last-gen. "Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is." Analog stick, your days are numbered, my friend." i remember seeing a interview and watching and hearing him say that with my own ears.. i was like "man thats sad" the problem is NO ONE will agree that rumble is "totally last gen". yes he might be right that motion offers more opportunities to innovate. but rumble is almost like a "standard feature".. its like buying a car with everything standard except a AM/FM radio. I really like the sixaxis, but i'd love it if it still had the rumble. who knows, i might end up slightly loving it as i see more games take more advantage of the motion sensor. right now theres very few..and the only one that rings a bell is flOw which uses it in a very awesome way. also why is that link like this: http://www.highdefforum.com/newthrea...newthread&f=48 ?.. that links points me to making a new thread? wheres the link for the interview.

I'm starting to miss Krazy Ken, he had much better quotes. Next thing MS will stop using P. Moore and these PR statements will just be boring on all sides.

My bad, the original link came from www.joystiq.com
Here is the original source: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/fe...d=15342&page=1 (some quotes) "[Including Blu-ray] will be, I believe, reflected on as the smartest decision we ever made." "Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is. And we don't see the need to do that." "[What you said regarding] disc speed is a complete myth. It makes no difference to the operation of the game whatsoever. " On Wii... "What could they learn from us? I think Nintendo, although I am very respectful of the innovation in Wii, and I think everybody should be respectful of it, I'm not sure that it has the technology base to propel that platform in the long-term." On 360... "Microsoft's approach I think is far too built around a single game IP, one IP, and they could learn the benefits of a killer catalog rather than a killer application." Regarding sales.. "With a steady flow of product into the territory, we expect to catch Nintendo very quickly. Even with the Xbox 360's one year lead, we anticipate we will be surpassing them relatively soon as well." Happy now BLOW?

Honestly I didnt think anyone expected a price decrease yet,do they? I mean not that I think it unwarranted but dropping the price now,or even in the next 8-12 months,to me would sorta come off as an admission of over-pricing the thing in the first place as many suspect. IMO the high price point holds some kinda "glory" to the fan boys too..

yea, i would be in awe shock if they dropped the price anytime from now till the end of 2007, even by a mere $50. its very doubtful but you never know. I for one would be alittle piss if that price went down sooner then expected cause i paid the whole price for it. I, along with almost every one else, is probably expected a price drop next summer.

Ya know, I was initially glad that Ken Kuturagi was pulled from his position. However, the news is a lot more bland and I am starting to miss the guy. He really spiced up the news with his funny quotes. Sure he was arrogant as hell, and I never though i'd actually miss him.

Sonys full of crap. Rumble beats motion sensers anyday. There is simply no reason not to have both really. Sony better bring rumble back.

Jimmy, start a petition. I'll sign it and I bet there are lots of people in this forum and beyond that would also sign it. I'd start one, but I don't have the same passion for the PS3 as you or many other enthusiasts have.

See, I want the PS3 to make me want to buy it. But I have no interest in it whatsoever. I was stoked for this machine, as well as the 360, that was until the systems release date became closer and closer. I hope Sony stops being stupid.
