"Expect a playable Killzone 2 demo to be released (hmm, Phil Harrison is keynoting at GDC...) before gamers are participating in the beta for Halo 3."

yup, i read this this morning, some guy at ps3forums.com posted it up too... can you imagine a KZ2 demo!!! wow.. if this is indeed true im very excited to see how this demo turns out to be and if thats the case it could very well be likely that KZ2 will hit 2007.. im pretty sure sony wants KZ2 out in time to compete with Halo 3. but will KZ2 be as good as the E3 2005 trailer.. thats the main question!. i cant see why it cant. GDC is within the first week of march or something right?

KZ was crap. It was grossly overhyped. The ambiance and sound were great, but the gameplay was pretty bad. The KZ2 hype died down substatially after sony admitted that the E3 demo was CG, not gameplay. It took them a while to admit that tho
KZ2 is scheduled to launch this year.

Joytiq mentions the rumor:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/06/ru...e-halo-3-beta/ 1UP Editor Luke Smith has posted a bold prediction on his blog: "Expect a playable Killzone 2 demo to be released ... before gamers are participating in the beta for Halo 3." Smith's reasoning descends from a string of rumors, which suggest that Killzone disappeared, in part, to direct the spotlight on Resistance. The rumors also indicate that while on the down-low, Guerilla has transformed its "Halo-killer" from a pre-rendered heartthrob into a developed game; some rumorists even suspect that Killzone has been playable online for nearly a year. Smith points to Phil Harrison's GDC keynote address as an opportunity for Sony to steal (in typical from-out-of-nowhere fashion) some mindshare away from Microsoft and the mid-March Halo beta test by dropping *GASP* the Killzone 2 bomb (note "bomb" being scratched out) demo! Never mind that the Killzone franchise has yet to deliver a noteworthy game; is the first half of 2007 really gonna be defined by a clash between a beta test and purported demo? If I'm a developer not working for Bungie or Guerilla, I'm about ready to hire a new PR agency -- that, or beg Sony to let my game piggyback on the Killzone demo's shoulders. Update: In response to comments that Killzone: Liberation (PSP) is "very good" or has "gotten great scores all around" (etc...), we simply offer up evidence that the title ranks 56th among current PSP games (233 in all) listed in score order. While we respect the opinions of those who enjoy the game, generally speaking, we maintain that Liberation is hardly noteworthy beyond its tie to the ridiculously over-hyped Killzone franchise.

i actually never played the first killzone for the PS2 either.. problem is at that time i wasnt into FPS's hardly... the only FPS i ever got for the PS2 was Black, and that game was killer!.. yea the story was not that strong and yea it was pretty straight forward.. but damn for a PS2 title the graphics where unreal! and the amount of stuff happening at the same time with explosions galore and everything was mind blowing, thats the game that got me interested in nex-gen FPS's like KZ2 and Resistance
. I heard/read the first killzone was only "ok"... hopfully they learned from whatever mistakes they made with that one. Quote:
if the halo 3 beta starts in march and its more then likely now that a KZ2 demo is true.. i prey at least though that this KZ2 demo that they are suppose to show at GDC will be downloadable on the PS store... NOW THAT!!!! would be sweet.

Read the reviews, KZ was a below average game, at best. But it was hyped like crazy. It sold great initially due to the hype, but sales dropped fast as ppl found out it just was not good. The grafix, sound, environment were top notch, but the gameplay was meh.Quote:

well "as far as i know" there has been no word(official) about this game until now!.. the last time was E3 2005 when they showed the trailer.. other then that its been no videos, no pictures, no screen shots, no nothing. maybe a mere interview here and there but they didnt give out information or at least no real important information cause if that was the case it would have been on the internet lol... sony has really really been keeping this game under super tight security lol.. just like Heavenly Sword. man thats not far, as a PS underground member myself i get jack shit from them, what is this world coming too lol.
