Usually we brush rumors aside, but this is one we would definitely like to see come to fruition! According to several other sites, such as NOOOZ, Konami is rumored to be considering bringing the long time Playstation exclusive Metal Gear series to the Xbox 360 with Metal Gear Solid 4.

Apparently, the rumors are abound that while the PS3 version of MGS4 will be released first, that some time there after, Konami will be releasing it on the Xbox 360 as well. The rumors take things even further, stating that the reason behind this decision is that the publisher feels it is necessary in order to recoup the costs in making the game and they just don't believe there are enough PS3 units on the market because of the Blu-ray diode failure situation.

Again, this is nothing more than a rumor at this point, but the rationale seems to make sense and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this one turns out to have some actual bearing.

Stay tuned as we keep our eyes and ears glued to any further information regarding Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's possible transition across platforms.

yup...the rumors are all over the place literally!.. seems the higher-ups at konami are pressuring kojima productions to make the title multiplatform due to the cost of developing the game, and obviously because there are not that many PS3's on the market yet they feel they wont be able to make that much money out of it. even if we predict that by the end of 2007 there will be afew million PS3's sold, thats still not enough, certainly not enough compare to over 8million or so of xbox360's .. me personally wouldnt care if they bring MGS4 to 360, however i would care if it comes out at the same time or before.. the game is certainly being developed on the PS3 and as the rumor states IF it does come out for 360 it'll be after the PS3 release(since they would have to port it over and stuff)..

only time will tell.. only time... so far MGS4 is slated for a 2007 release(probably some time in the 2007 holiday timeline)

the only way i can see them NOT brining it to the 360 is if sony makes a desperate act and tries to BUY the franchise from kojima and make it exclusive to the PS3 by buying it and having sony give them money for it too..

Hmmm, but if Sony is hurting in any way financially, I don't think they'll get the nod to hand over that kind of money at this point in time.

ps3 fan boys grab your life preservers and jump on a raft because your ship just hit a iceburg named the xbox360 and your ship is now sinking very fast.

if ms lands metal gear then sony has to waive its white flag. i mean halo, gears of war, and metal gear on the same system. hell if i owned ms i would be sending kanomi a christmas card with a nice how do you do check in it. what will be the sony flagship if this happens grand turismo? i hope not for sonys sake. i would send a sales man with all kinds of charts and graphs showing how much money that could be made with the deals ms offers to developers then give them an even sweeter deal just to land the franchise. maybe take them out to a strip club and take pictures of the kanomi owner with some strippers and black mail him if they didnt sign after the original offer.

So you are saying that by the end of 2007, "only 8 million or so 360s " sold?? Supposedly 360 reached that amount by the end of last month. Nice try, but try harder next time...

While the most recent data shows six million Xbox 360 consoles sold as of September 30, internal data indicates Microsoft may have sold more than eight million units as of the end of November.

Reaching the 10 million goal is just now a matter of sales: about a week ago the company shipped its ten millionth console. And from the looks of things, hitting the mark may not be that difficult.

I expect the game to be delayed until early 2008 and have a simultaneous launch. MGS4 does not want to go up against Halo3 and GTA4 which are slated for Nov 2K7

Doubtful since M$ has far deeper pockets than sony... Game publishers are not console fanboys; they are business men.

This is one game that I do not believe will come over to the 360. It's kind of like Zelda, I can see pretty much everyone who owns a PS3 will get the game.

The PS3 will have to really do a terrible job for the game to come over to 360, that would really stab Sony in the heart since many of their other exclusives are heading to 360... But I'd like to see MGS4 come to 360, of course, then my 360 would pretty much favor all other consoles out there.

I think times are changing now. Developers are looking at the big picture. At this point in time it would be foolish not to look at the 360, with an installed base of almost 10 million. AAA title + huge installed base = $$$.

OH NO NO NO.. there ALREADY is over 8million sold.. im saying that by the end of 2007 even IF sony manages to sell, oh lets say 3million or even 5million PS3's, its still nothing compare to THE ALREADY over 8million right now... so by that time the 360 will still have well over twice the units sold. i'll estimate probably 15million by end of 2007 or more with Halo 3 coming out in 2007(unless it gets delayed).. the PS3 certainly has some good exclusive titles for 2007 but like many will agree, MGS4 is indeed its MOST strongest title that ALOT ALOT of people are looking forward too, some people are more then likely holding off on getting the PS3 until this one and only title comes out.

many of the exclusive PS3 titles have not headed over to the 360.. only 2 titles thats all "bladestorm" and "fatal inertia"(which both are not massive hits like GTA4 or anything) ... many People assumed certain titles where going to be exclusive for the PS3, for example Assassins Creed and GTA4, however they where NEVER officially announced exclusively for the PS3.. people just assumed. its not like Assassins creed was indeed going to be PS3 only and then ubisoft decided to go multi-platform NOPE. same with GTA4, people assumed GTA4 was going to be only for PS3 since all the GTA series are on PS2 already.

True, MGS4 is easily the biggest PS3 game next year, assuming it doesnt get delayed. If it becomes multiplatform, that would be a major loss. Most of PS3 games next year are multiplatform or 1st party games. 360s are the same but it does benefit from 360/PC games. If you compare the 2 lineups, 360 is better with Halo3, Bioshock, Forza 2, Lost Planet, etc being exclusive.

You have a point. PS3 needs MGS4 released next year more than 360 does. But if PS3 has only 6 million sold worldwide next year, I doubt konami would even want to release it then esp going up against GTA4, Madden, etc. They may wait until 1st quarter 2K8 and make it a simultaneous release. Why spend so much money in advertising for such a small audience? Again, konami is a 3rd party, they don't have the same interests as sony... Recall how namco said earlier that it takes over 500K games sales on PS3 just to break even...

True, because Armored Core is multiplatform. So far Toky Extreme Racing has been announced just for 360. Resident Evil 5 is multiplatform. It is rumored that UT2K7 is multiplatform

If Microsoft can land MGS4, then they will make me a very happy person. MGS4 is going to be an AAA title no matter what, and is likely one of few titles that has a chance of selling as many copies as GoW is doing right now. There are over 10 million X360's out now, and it would be foolish to not take advantage of an install base that big. Besides, the X360 has that neat rumble feature that Mr. Kojima was missing so much on the PS3. With all of this news out there, how in the world are Sony exec's even getting any sleep these days?

2007 PS3 exclusive titles/most anticipated(in no particular order) (1st&3rd party)
Motorstorm(march 07)
Lair(april 07)
Heavenly Sword(delay to Q3 07)
Metal Gear Solid 4(TBA 07)
Warhawk(delay to Q2 07)
Devil May Cry 4(TBA 07)
Virtual Fighter 5(march 07)

from that list i can easily tell you MGS4, Heavenly sword, Motorstorm and Lair are going to be BIG TITLES. motorstorm has already practically sold out in japan, and the US version is going to be even better then the japanese version. i dont even know where to being with Heavenly Sword

so that makes 4

. then of course you have your sequels VG5, DMC4, Warhawk.

of course im not counting titles like GTA4 or Assassins creed which will be for both consoles.

Resident Evil STOPPED being playstation exclusive right after the original playstation.. if any of you remember capcom started making resident evil zero for the N64 but decided to bring it out for the gamecube. it was no surpise RE5 was going multiplatform, plus again IT WAS NEVER announced as a PS3 exclusive to begin with. it was like when they brought out Silent Hill to the xbox after being only on the playstation(1,2). again so far the ONLY titles that where "exclusive to PS3 but are now going to come out to 360 also" are Bladestorm and Fatal Inertia. im not talking in terms of "oh well armored core was always a "playstation" game but now its going to come out for 360 too"

oh also Unreal Tournament is multiplat.. (ps3, 360, PC). now this i can honestly say im not sure of if it was or wasnt PS3 exclusive, i remember they demoed this at E3 2005.

The Metal Gear series was already made multi-console during the last generation, (Metal Gears Solid : Substance for xbox and Metal Gear Solid : Twin Snakes for the gamecube) there is no reason to believe that this generation will be different.

True MGS4 will be on PS3 first but I will be willing to bet it will also appear on the 360.
