Will Gears of War Downloadable Content be Free?

Both Epic Games and its Xbox 360 holiday hit Gears War were honored at the Spike TV 2006 Video Game Awards show, held on Friday night at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center in Los Angeles. Epic won four awards including “Studio of the Year” and “Best Shoorter” for Gears of War.

During a backstage interview, the host asked the Epic guys about downloadable content. Epic Games President, Doctor Mike Capps, said:

"We started long before the game ever came out; we started on the next stuff. We always take care of our customers, we always give them stuff for free and we're going to keep doing that forever."

Capps added: "This is how we do it man, this is Epic.”

Epic has a long tradition of supporting their games after launch with tons of downloadable content and in the case of Unreal Tournament, that content was released for free.

But this time, we are talking about a different publisher and a different platform. Will Gears of War downloadable content be released for free? Time will tell.

Well... we will see. Lets not forget that CliffyB once said GoW was going to be $49.99 but we see that was not the case...

True that 69.99 for a CE, but hey it was worth every penny and in reality I paid an even 95 with shipping. I doubt they would give free stuff think about it with the sales of this game and the live attachment rate they just know people would pay gladly. One thing for sure is that if they do people will love them for it and will do wonders to promote their name maybe at least offer the first batch free and then a second helping with extra $$$.
