Default More PS3 exclusives head to 360

As per GameSpot:

More PS3 exclusives head to 360
Koei makes Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm multiplatform, announcing both will come to Microsoft's next-gen console.
By Emma Boyes, GameSpot UK
Posted Nov 22, 2006 5:58 pm GMT

It would appear that the PlayStation 3 may not have as many exclusive titles as previously thought. First came the announcement in September when Ubisoft said that the much-publicised Assassin's Creed--which had previously been billed as a PS3 title--would be coming to the Xbox 360 and PC as well.

Producer Jade Raymond told GameSpot in an interview that the reason for this was that Ubisoft had at first been unsure how many consoles it could support but that it had "always wanted to share our next-gen vision with everybody."

Then came an article earlier this week, by Newsweek correspondent N'Gai Croal, in which he stated that both Assassin's Creed and Grand Theft Auto IV were originally intended to be exclusive for Sony's next-gen console, but Kaz Hirai's "slowness" in finalising the deals meant that the developers decided to port to Microsoft as well.

Today, two more games which were previously presumed to be PS3 exclusives have been announced for the Xbox 360 as well: Koei's aerial combat racing game Fatal Inertia and its miltiary actioner Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War.

Fatal Inertia is the debut title for the Toronto-based studio Koei Canada, which is led by Takazumi Tomoike, creator of the Dynasty Wars series, and Koei cofounder and chief advisor Yoichi Erikawa. The game features "an evolutionary sport mixing high-performance street racing, rally, and demolition derby."

Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War is set in the first half of the 14th century in Medieval Europe, and players will assume the role of a mercenary leader commanding troops in real time.

A Koei spokesperson confirmed to GameSpot that Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm would be launch titles for the PS3's 2007 debut in Europe, but wouldn't comment further on the Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Can't blame them. They need to make money of their IP's and can't do that with the data sitting on their development hard drives and not consoles. I don't think assasin's creed was ever listed as a PS3 exclusive though unlike Fatal Inertia (which looks to me to be a wipeout clone anyway). Once PS3 gets more market penetration they'll regain more exclusives. I kinda like the idea of cross platform games. Brings me back to the SNES Genesis days. If anything comes of this, I hope this forces SONY to beef up their First party titles a bit...

Wow, ps3 fans have got a solution for every bit of bad news for sony.

If not now, wait and see.. I dont think you will not see very many exclusives for EITHER system this go around.

now this should be interesting.. both fatal and blade storm are being originally develop for the PS3, and are being ported over to the 360 after the games release. technically speaking the PS3 version of both these games should look better then the 360 version's.... it'll be some shit if the 360 version looks better! LOL... this i soo have to look forward to seeing... it would pretty much mean two things, the PS3 is not as powerful as the 360 really/technically, or developers can make games better for the 360(e.g. the 360 is easier to develop for). i cant wait till spring! lucky both titles dont interest me one bit, i'll shi.t my pants though if MGS4, FFXIII or GT5 get ported eventually to another system!!! :0

but it is true that developers will make more money by releaseing a game(s) on multiple consoles especially considering that there are over 6million 360's already out there.. i dont know how or what sony is going to be planning but its certainly going to take a good while for PS3 units to catch up in terms of sale.

Heh true, this will be first example to see just how good 360's XNA and dev kits are. If 360's version look as good as PS3, that will be interesting indeed.

Well its guaranteed that GT5 is exclusive since its a 1st party title. Sony owns part of squenix via stock, so its very doubtful FFXIII is coming to 360. But you may need some Depends undergarments regarding MGS4. Rumor from EGM is konami is forcing kojima to bring it to 360.

There we go, now you are speaking rationally. Its only business here.

Yeah its gonna be a while. There are now about 7.5 million 360s shipped. PS3 will continue to be in short supply due to continued shortages in blue laser diodes next year. Thus I expect 360 to at least double PS3 shipments next year, unless the blue laser issue is resolved.

John Carmack (created Doom) was quoted this past week saying that the 360 is easier to develop for than even the PC.

Considering how much work Microsoft has put into making easy development tools, i'm not surprised. At this point, I think it is just partisan foolishness for a developer to consider developing a game just for the PS3. It's foolish because it's not going to have any decent installed base till next holiday. Even the Nintendo has a decent install base, due to having a relatively successful launch. If they can get MGS4 onto the X360, that could pretty much be the final nail into Sony's coffin for this generation of consoles. Considering that the X360 has a lot more graphics power, and more flexibility with regards to video/system memory, not bringing that game to the X360 would be a foolish buisness decision. While Sony could offer them a LOT of money to keep it exclusive, you are talking about a game that would likely be an instant AAA hit on the X360, possibly even surpassing GoW sales.

the thing is MGS series has been kept exclusive only to the playstation console.. however! there was that one time when they brought out MGS for the game cube.. although it was only a remake of the original.. i cant see them bringing MGS4, a new title, to the 360, however i could see them bringing a remake of MGS3, for example, to the 360. i think alot of people, including myself, that picked up the PS3 especially for that title would shit in there pants if at the last minute konami forces kojima to bring it out for the 360 aswell.... the game is probably expected holiday 2007 and by that time there still be more 360's sold then PS3's and in turn konami would without a doubt make probably double the amount of money if they brought it out for PS3 and 360.... again i dont know.

IF they do decide to that such a path then at least i hope they bring it out for the PS3 first.... then make the final decision and port it over to the 360 a couple months afterwards....

Or, since the X360 is so "easy" to develop for, bring it out for the X360 and port it to the PS3

That seams the be the current trend as many of the current PS3 titles are just ported over.

Exclamation MGS4 could go both ways

^I was about to mention that. Let me tell you huge MGS fan probablly the biggest you have ever encountered on this green earth. First of all Kojima(director and creator) has his own production company (kojima productions) which is handaling this game so he has full creative control.

Anyway here is the juicy bit of info recentlly a guy named ryan peerston or something whom plays a big role in the us version of mgs was asked "Will MGS4 come to the Xbox 360?" to which he answered "MGS4 will be a great game" so that dodged question pretty much gives me goosebumps. It pretty much confirms talk of the project with microsoft.

All my friends know me to hate Sony recentlly and have laughed at how I will buy the ps3 even if it is for that one game so you can imagine how sweet that sounds to me. one thingI'm sure of though is this game will probablly be delayed cause it is the final metal gear masterpiece and it will blow any next gen game from here onwards to the next generation. unluess they made a sequel that is .

Cool..link or source? For the record, I am no MGS fan. I bought MGS2 on PS2 and got bored with it..too many cutscenes for me.

I have looked all over for the interview, but I found a smilar looking piece reading the Halo Exclusive EGM issue 210, as I said earlier it's still a rumor though. I hope it happens, although it would be weird playing on the 360, but I'll get over it with 600$ in my wallet.
