Thats messed up, i guess it's the perfect oppurtunity for a criminal though, theres just a pack of 20 random people, half of which probably have over $600 cash on them.

I feel really sorry for that guy. When they find the criminals, I hope they get thrown in a jail and the key get's thrown away. Of course, keep in mind that this is in the glorious state of Taxachussetts, which means that those criminals probably won't get any punishment deserving of their crimes. I really hope Sony sees this story and does something like offering him a PS3. It would be a great PR event for Sony, and it would only cost them $500-600. With all the money these companies make off of us, it's sad that the manager of the store in question didn't have the good sense to hire a cop or at least a rent-a-cop to stand there and protect those people. Perhaps at least the appearance of some sort of law enforcement in the area would have discouraged the thugs from committing their despicable act.

If I were the victim, I would attempt some sort of lawsuit against the chain for failing to be pro-active in a situation where anyone with half a brain can expect violence to erupt. You all may recall my post elsewhere on this forum where I joked about potential PS3 launch-related shootings in Miami. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this sort of situation is conducive to violence.

Anyhow, I am PS3-less and did not even attempt to camp out as I had planned. I also am devoid of bullet or BB pellet wounds and this feels neat as well.

Seriously, it's mostly Visa anyway.... the one who got shot had cash.

And he's a fool for not just giving up his money. If someone has a gun and wants something you have - GIVE IT TO THEM!

That's exactly it. I simply don't carry cash for that exact same reason. I also don't carry cash because I get really tired of beggars walking up to me when stopped at a light at night, and then banging the hell out of my window till I lower it a crack to tell them that I ain't got no cash. I go through some rough area's of town, and live several blocks from a ghetto. I have nearly been carjacked when I had my SVT Lightning, and almost got robbed a month later when some guy tried to break into my car while I was still in it. If I don't carry cash in the first place, it's no big deal for me as I couldn't care less about giving up my credit card.

As for suing BB, I don't really agree with that. Why should BB have to pay out of their pocket to rent a few cops for a situation that Sony created? I don't believe they should be liable when they wern't the ones that did the shooting.

Best Buy was giving the public what they wanted and now they should be sued for it?

Your right though, they should have hired a security quard or rent-a-cop. His job should have been to kick every single a$$hole out of the parking lot until the store opened at 9:00 AM the next morning. They should have closed the property completely until the doors opened that morning. That would solve the problem of some jac#a$$ trying to file a lawsuit against them for him being stupid enough to camp out overnight with $600 cash in his pocket.

On a lighter note, I went to Best Buy last night to pick up Accepted (Amazon doesn't have it listed for some reason.) There was a huge line of herbs all bundled in sleeping bags, waiting in line. I couldn't help but laugh - they looked all dirty and depressed. All that for a game console that will be readily available in six months.

But if someone got hurt or killed, BB would be responsible since they had security there. Thus BB did the right thing legally by not having security there. You know how highly litigious society is.
