Default wow, sony does it again..........

sony hast streached to truth by putting out a fact sheet that streaches the truth about what each console costs. they use there $499 system and compare it to microsofts $299 system and add all the extra stuff like hdd, wireless controller to the price. everyone knows if you buy the $399 system you get that extra stuff alot cheaper. sony is also saying you need to buy the $199 hddvd addon. there reporter goes on to says MS may be planning legal action against sony for this very dirty number twisting trick there trying to pull.

its just so sad that there trying this hard to justify the price at such a late point in the game. definetly check out the link because its a sad/funny but true situation.

Thumbs down Sony blows

Meh, this is just marketing to trick ignorent consumers.

The REAL crime is Sony banning imports of the PS3 to Europe...They basicly won some crap court case with LikSang a few years back over Importing PSP's. How? They claimed because they have copyright of the PSP, they also had the say as to when it goes on sale.

Which of course is not legal. If you buy something fairly, you can do with it what you like...Atleast in American you can

What the hell is wrong with Sony? The link seems to be missing from above, but the last company they want to committ slander against is Microsoft. Even if this is nothing more than completely legal dirty marketing, they do not want to experience the wrath of Microsoft's high powered lawyers. What's worse, is that this is going to add up to even more free publicity for the X360, as people will see that it's even more of a bargain than already.

Okay, just read the article, and it's definately slander. Sony can't claim that users are "required" to buy something that is entirely optional. That author sums it up best, and that's scummy that they are making people think you HAVE to buy the addon HD-DVD drive to play games. Oh boy, I gotta run to the supermarket and pick up some popcorn, because Sony is gonna get nailed to a wall. Sony, you have done it now! Prepare to get your asses kicked!

maybe microsoft and nintendo should gang up and make a super system next time. this way they could win in japan and america then the world would follow.

think about it microsoft could bring there high tech know how and nintendo could bring there game making ability and fanbase that would just cripple sony. nintendo could also bring there ideas on new gadgets for the system.

i know it would never happen becasue of how much money is at stake but the idea of a nintendo and microsoft merge gives me butterflys.

All right all right, it seems again I'm going to be the only one to put on my “what SONY is really trying to say but lacks the PR to properly convey it" cap. They were comparing the values you get system to system if you assembled a comparable setup with the other two. I will whole heartedly give you the controller thing and the Xbox live (since I assume silver is still free) since wireless is not necessary to play games but the rest of it is just adding up what you would have to buy for the lower tier 360 to get it to the value you would get with the lower tier PS3 (and yes this is about a hundred dollars cheaper than the PS3). They’re truthfully trying to make it apples to apples (although they did a poor job at it). In the end, who cares what the price comparison is! VERY many of you have already stated you hate SONY and you won’t buy their system. That’s perfectly fine! If you’ve already made up your mind on that then just don’t buy one and go on your regular lives loving your Nintendo or Microsoft product and leave the rest to enjoy the system they are willing to put their hard earned dollars down to play. I’ll end my rant here. I apologize if I’ve offended anyone and for my behavior but it seems we’re dwelling on the same darned topic every day when we should be adults and move on! (wow DejaVu, I think I’ve said this before)

No, we are dwelling on a completely new topic now. This is literally a 1st degree deception attempt by Sony. They use the core console to make the comparison, and then they use words like require to make the ignorant public think that it really is required. Sony could have avoided trouble by adding, or just changing a few words in that chart. In my opinion, their legal and marketing department are not communicating. When a system makes the various components optional for people to purchase as they see theneed for them, you cannot claim that it is required just because Sony decided to force them down the throats of consumers without giving them a choice.

I find the thought of a Nintendo and Microsoft merger interesting, but I doubt that Nintendo would let that happen. If that happened, diehard Nintendo fans will probably be comitting suicide in grief and dispair.

sony has been ignorant throughout this whole ordeal. you cannot just say there pr department is just not conveying there message properly. i mean they have gone on record saying things like "next gen starts when i say it does" its ignorance by sony and nothing less.

sony may have been ignorant when they said that, but you must understand that they are giving you a $1000 dollar system for only 500 bucks. plus they give you free online and other cool stuff. im not saying sonys better than ms and nintendo because ms gives good deals to. but nintendo is just giving you an nintendo 64 with a new controller. thats all it is. you name me all of the upgrades they put into the wii from the n64. theres probably like 3. and they make you pay 250 dollars for sumthing thats not next gen!! the only thing thats next gen is the controller!! they should of just put the controller on sale. thats really the only reason people are being it. is for the stupid controller thats only good for sword fighting games. what are you going to do in madden nfl with it?? when you throw the ball it will look like your doing magic tricks with a wand.

oh i understand the wii not being good for the money now but sony did go overboard here by trying to compare apples and oranges. every new system costs less then what it takes to make. every company is losing money on there new systems ( maybe not nintendo but i dont really know for sure ). im a bit worried about the quality of the br player in the ps3 since they delayed the sony br player till december again.

But then when you consider the 360 only lacks a hddvd drive, and its still remains to be seen how good of a bluray drive the ps3 will contain, isnt M$ selling you just as much of a value as Sony's "$1000" 'gift' to the gaming community? Hmmmm; Oblivion, Tomb Raider, PGR, Splinter Cell, Im really beginning to wonder why I would even bother with a PS3, especially considering Sony's tactics against a solid platform like the 360.

I'd never would have thought Sony would have gone to my top list of what manufacture I would never buy from...

But it happened.
