Thumbs up Gears of War to Ship with 10 Versus Multiplayer Maps

As per TeamXbox:

Gears of War to Ship with 10 Versus Multiplayer Maps
By: César A. Berardini - "Cesar"
Oct. 9th, 2006 10:02 am

Cliff Bleszinski, Gears of War’s lead designer, has announced that the game will ship with 10 versus multiplayer maps instead of the 8 originally announced. A post in the official GOW forums reads as follow:

Folks,

Turns out we ARE shipping with 10 versus maps. (We were saying 8 to be on the safe side.) Go forth and spread the word!

That's good news.

I know I am bumping an old thread...(I was on vacation last week). But only 10 multiplayer maps??? I guess they expect us to pay for more maps. Looks like I won't be buying GoW at launch...

Epic has been great about giving away extra content for free in the past, so I wouldn't rush to that assumption.

But in the past, Epic did not have M$ bankrolling the product. Additionally, they have already announced DLC..and I think at a cost. Lets not forget, cliffyb once said that GoW would cost $49.99 but thats no longer the case...

Good news is that it was supposed to be 8. I am happy with 10 good maps.

actually, like 1.5-2 years ago he said all epic next-gen games would be $40 and he talked about about how no games should cost over $40 even with next-gen graphics, despite what the big companies were saying about pricing and how huge developments costs would be. so in my mind, we should be getting $20 worth of DLC included in the game, standard.
