Hey,
I was just wondering if someone could tell me which type of HDTV is the best to using game systems on. Which tv's don't have any blurring or video lag? Thanks.

Lcd has blurring. The newest high end sets have such a small delay time that you probably wont notice it(i've heard).

Do some flat panel LCD tv's have different response times? If so, where could I find that out?

Yes, they have different response times.
I suppose you could go to the manufacturers site and see them. Hope that helps. Ps. I hear sony and sharp make the best lcds. I personally would go with a plasma. Just my opinion. |

If you are going 37" or less then we are talking LCD. They just don't make plasmas this small. Get the best response time you can find which should be around 8ms. Now if you are going 40" or more range than plasma is the best choice. There aren't that many LCDs at this size. There are many good brands out there and of course there are the big dogs like Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic, Sharp, etc. You are not going to go wrong with a Sony, Pioneer, etc. but in most cases price is a factor and you can save hundreds to thousands on a not so well known brand and still have a very good TV. Remember it always looks better in your house after you have adjusted it properly.
After I have determined what size TV I want and whether its LCD or Plasma, I would go to as many retail electronic stores as possible and take a look at as many TVs as I could. Play with the menu settings. I would take a pad of paper and write down any model numbers I liked and why. Then go back home and get online and read reviews and check the full tech specs. This may be overkill but when we are potentially talking about thousands of dollars it is what I would do. Plus as a big tech geek this is really alot of fun for me. How big of a spot do you have in your house for the TV? How far away are you going to sit? And how much money are you willing to spend? |

I have had very good results with games on my Sony rear projection CRT display (KP57WS500) and my Hitachi plasma (55HDT52). No lag or out of sync issues on either. I have only heard of sync issue with DLP sets. I know I had no issues with CRT rear projection or Plasma. I am unsure but think LCD is a safe bet too for gaming.

Wouldn't this best be replied to in the flat panel section of the forum? Not a flame, just a suggestion.

No it would not be best replied to in the flat panel section. The question was what tv's are good for gaming without blur or lag. So the topic would fall into Gaming.

Allright, just wanted to make sure VonDaurie got the best help possible! I've never seen blurring on an LCD pannel (at least newer ones) in 720P

You guys using plasma for gaming-question: How real is the burn-in issue with these sets? I'm kind of in the same position. I'm looking for a television that I can use primarily for gaming, but I'm not sure which new technology to go with. You have blurring issues with LCD, burn in issues with plasma, and gaming lag with SXRD and DLP. Which one of these technologies is best for gaming at this stage of the game, particularly if you want to do some old school gaming and use some of the more ancient gaming consoles? Any information or links to some great articles would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

I've been gaming on my plasma since Nov with no signs of burn-in at all. It's almost a thing of the past with the new panels out now.
