xbox 360
PS3
Wii
As Metallica would say... "Sad but trueeee"

Agreed. LOL

look at the PS2..personally i think it had a horrible launch!..the games sucked, looked bad, no good games, bugs, developers had a very hard time programing for it.. etc..etc..

oh but wait look, it won the console war and sold over 100million units!! gggeeeee hhhmmm. i think the same will happen with the PS3.. it might not have the strongest launch(mostly due to the price) but as time goes on, the games will get 5x's better just like they did for the PS2, plus if blu-ray takes off then the PS3 is sold as the most affordable blu-ray player. i dont know.. i feel alot of people are just overlooking alot of things...

Cool Wii has the greatest value....

I own three HDTV's but, after looking at the e3 next-gen consoles rollout, I think it's safe to say--right now--that I'll ONLY purchase the Wii. I know it's not 'true highdef' but, you know, so what. The 360 and PS3 games (they do look sharp) don't look like they're going to be as much fun to play as those on the Wii. Back in March, my girlfriend and I decided to sell our original xbox on ebay after we both sort've noticed that we were never playing it. So instead of keeping the xbob, because we've been having loads of fun with our two Nintendo DSes, we spent the money we made from the sale on DS games like Tetris, Metriod, BrainTrainer, and Sonic plus we bought the Nintendo USB Wifi PC-Dongle. THAT was a great purchase. Playing against DS freaks from all over the world is-bar none-much more fun than Halo2 was for xbox. So, after hearing the Wii would not be HD, I was holding my breath right before e3 because e3 '06 was going to determine, for me, which next-gen console I would be buying this fall. Once the dust cleared, this matter was settled. Wii GFX looks great in both 4:3 and 16:9 in 480p, plus we'll be able to use the DS/Wii WIFI USB internet connection, which I already own, has a great lineup of release title games, and offers the most exciting NEW gameplay experience with the motion sensitive controller. I can afford to buy two-or even three-consoles but to what end?!? For less than $200.00 (gfx card + more ram) I can upgrade my PC to play all the 360 and PS3 games in 1080p, or better, on my desktop. The Wii looks like something that'll be fun to play with my girlfriend and, when she's not game, against all sorts of fools online. And the online connection is free for added value. So my money that WAS going to go into a 360/PS3 + maybe a wii is now going to go into a Wii + many games + my pocket.

I have read about this on ign.com some time ago.
nintendo isn't going to be losing any money on their so called next gen.their actually going to profit $20 per console sold, which may not seem like a lot but adds up considering the amount of nintendo fanboy's out there.

microsoft from what i heard is losing just under $300 per console sold.they lost around $100 per console sold for the original xbox.

ps3 is losing around $450 per console sold for their $600 model,i haven't heard about their $500 model.

it was reported that the PS3 console would cost about $700-$800 to manufacturer.. selling them at $600 is only losing $200 the most,..where are you getting over $450?!? if that was the case then that means each PS3 console cost over $1,000 to manufacturer which isnt the case.

Yeah I agree... This is one of the most unique and competetively diverse "console wars" that there has ever been. We can only sit and watch the show... Just buy what you want to and be happy, that's all I can say.

You guys are falling over the tricks of marketing accounting wizards. When a manufacture wants you to think they're taking a hose to provide you with the very absolute best perceived value they always cook the books a bit to frontload costs so that the marketing gurus can proclaim that the machine is, acutally, worth MORE than you paid for it. lol. Remember: you have to take into account the initial manufacturing costs are always higher but as production ratchets up the rollout cost per unit levels out. You, honestly, don't think Sony's paying the same amount--per chip--for 3rd party components as the average, mid-sized, tv manufacturer can negotiate? Those F-ers'll add things like the cost of globally advertizing the dang units to the sum total of cost-per if they know they can get away with it. Big Biz is all about profit and bottom line. that $$$. Maybe M$, indeed, lost money for say the 1st six million 360's...they know they'll recoup it over the next 30 million. Just don't pity the titans of industry and buy whichever entertainment console you feel will give you the most pleasure for your hard earned bux.
