In preparation of Crysis 3's upcoming release, I decided to replay the old Crysis games to catch up on the story. I made the following discoveries
1) Crysis 1 is in fact a terrible game 2) Crysis 2 has unplayable input lag in DX11 mode There's nothing you guys can do to help with #1. Its just a bad game. It's poorly optimized, the controls are too sluggish, the aiming is inaccurate, the weapon ballistics are off, the enemies vision is too good, etc. What I'm concerned with is #2. The game is unplayable in DX11 mode due to some strange input lag. When I move the joystick (or mouse), there is a noticeable lag between the movement of the stick and the movement of the cursor. It makes the game unplayable. If I disable DX11, this issue goes away. I've read some things on the google machine about this potentially being linked to a certain block of settings (vsync, 60hz, dx11) and was wondering if anyone here had come across this?

Disable in-game vsync and see if that helps. A lot of the input lag stems from poorly implemented v-sync. If you have Dead Space installed - that is one of the biggest offenders.
From my understanding of how it works, the poorly implemented v-sync grabs 60 frames for the refresh, but it still renders higher so you get a disconnection of input. Since input is on it's own timer, say you were rendering 80 FPS, between Frames 1-5 you moved left 2 degrees, it takes 5 frames for the motion to feel smooth, but because of the bad v-sync, it grabes Frames 1 and 4 which might have a large MS gap, thus you get a jerky feeling + a delayed response. For starters, v-sync ALWAYS adds input lag. The question is how sensitive you are to it. It's just the nature of v-sync. Since it ties your frame rate to your monitor's refresh rate, so does it tie your input commands, however, bad v-sync is really REALLY bad at exagerrating the input lag. |

I will try this tonight... Also, in this case, its a hugely noticeable delay that would present a problem to anyone

Driver level v-sync should normally always be better since it caps the frame output.
I believe NV has triple buffering in the CP, so I'd enable that through too. Quote:
I'm starting to suspect the same thing will happen with DS3. |

And I think I'm going to skip over Crysis 1/warhead. Maybe I'll enable some cheats and just whiz through it. I can't believe I used to like this game. Its just bad.

JR- are you playing with the BLack Rock (I believe it is black rock if not then something similar) HD texture pack add-on As good as the game looked before it pretties it up even more.

Isn't it called something like Mando Texture Pak? I never went back to replay Crysis 2 after the DX11 patch.
I was one of the few people here who slammed Crysis 1. The AI was cheap as shit, it looked pretty but the AI could spot you from a fucking year away and they had auto aim cranked to 11. I don't have much interest in Crysis 3, but if it's on sale I'd probably snatch it up. |

I only played through Crysis 2 once, in regular DX9 mode right after launch. After that, I installed the above texture mod, along with DX11 mode, and the game hasn't run right since. It crashes, lags, etc. So I never played it again

Crysis 1 is total shit. The AI is ridiculous, but I think the aiming is terrible. I'm always having trouble hitting targets in that game

I'm talking mouse aiming. Its just awful in Crysis. Whatever the reason, its just hard to hit people without wasting a shit ton of bullets. Don't have that problem in any of the other several dozen KBM FPS games I own on PC... Just Crysis
And yes, console shooters with gamepads require aim assist. All have it. Don't make me beat you to death with facts and logic.
