This was a fucking awesome year for gaming; one of the best years for sure.
Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3, Diablo 3, Sleeping Dogs, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Halo 4, Guild Wars 2, Borderlands 2, Dishonored, X-COM, Assassin's Creed 3, Far Cry 3, The Walking Dead. Maybe some others I can't think of. Three of these games are 10/10 for me (Borderlands 2, Dishonored, and Far Cry 3). A damn good year! ![]() My GOTY will be either Borderlands 2 or Far Cry 3. I'll have to wait for the ending of FC3 to decide, but it's leaning towards Far Cry 3. Only a lousy end could make it lose for me. What's your GOTY?

Tie: Halo 4 & Far Cry 3. Nothing else even comes close.
Halo 4 is the best total package, seeing as though the robust multiplayer will yield hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of hours of playtime. But Far Cry 3 gets my vote for best single player campaign hands down.

Will say I've spent the most time in Borderlands 2...but I have yet to finish sleeping dogs, far cry 3 (thanks 5!) or BLOPS 2.
So far I doubt BLOPS2 will take my vote.

BLOPS 2 is a steaming pile of dogshit.
Borderlands 2 is great, but since its technically a faux sequel, meaning the engine is almost entirely unchanged, I have a hard time putting it up at the top. Don't get me wrong; its an awesome game, but its Borderlands 1 with new characters and a new campaign. Like AC: Brotherhood, Revelations, etc.

I know I'm ~really~ late on this, but it is my 2012 GOTY since this is the year I'm playing it.
Skyrim. I've got 70+ hours into it (Steam's count is off due to "pause time"), I've beaten the main quest line, the Stormcloaks, and the College of Winterhold, but I still feel as though I've only barely scratched the surface. I've had the same weapon for probably close to 40 hours of gametime until just recently. I don't even know how any of you have had time to play any other game. I'm feeling compelled to finish everything. So that said, it's probably going to be my 2013 GOTY as well.

It was the same for me, until I started Far Cry 3.

Mass Effect 3, for all the hate I have towards the ending, the journey is what mattered. I have yet to play a game that compelled me to finish the previous two again just to make the right changes. Sure the carry over was limited and mainly only got me a couple new talking points, but it was worth it to me.
Have not played AC3, FC3 and yet to finish Borderlands 2... I really like Borderlands 2 but I got bored, I played soooooo much of the first and the second as John said is damn near identical so it was just hard for me to keep going. I will get around to it eventually but I think I am going to try me some FC3 first..

Honorable mention /2nd place for me was probably Guild Wars 2.
EDIT: Just realized there was so much hate (along with a tight cash flow) at the time that I never did play ME3 - oh well something for 2013 to look forward to at a Steam Sale (or is it only on origin?) I look at origin so infrequent - typically only when I play BF3.
