Hmmm, I dont know about that, but NewEgg probably hopes its true, it will have people upgrading in droves just so they can say they maxed the game!

If Max Payne 3 requires that much resources, I'll probably skip it. The Max Payne Series wasn't *that* amazing that I would even bother upgrading to play it. Maybe in 5 years after i've upgraded again.

The i7 listed is a 6 core variant, you have a 4 core (still a bad ass processor).

Max Payne is what brought bullet time (slow mo shooting) to the masses. It was a solid series early on. Not sure what it will be like now, but the developer diaries have been pretty awesome so far, I plan on picking it up for the 360 when it releases.

I have a Thuban 6 core CPU, and I monitor core usage. Let's see if it can use all 6. BF 3 is the game I have that honestly has over 50% usage of each core.

I personally doubt this game will require all 12 threads of a SB-E i7. I know this game has a lot of physics (actual real physics, not PhysX) but no way in hell it is computing this shit on the fly.

I know the devs said they have to render "every single bullet" so they can use the bullet kill shit, but even then the "bullets" aren't static and they will disappear once the system starts to bog.

Yea the Dev diaries of this game were awesome, I cant wait for this to come out to see what strain it puts a system through.

What i dont want is some Batman AC shit, where no matter what system you have it sinks to single digit frame rates. That shit was weak.

It runs awesome now after like 5 patches. I hope R* takes the time to make it run well.

Some people think GTA4 is unoptimized, I saw it was made for future hardware and is exactly what every PC gamer should want out of a blockbuster. Why is it not unoptimized? Everytime new hardware comes out GTA4 performance scales almost linearly with it. It's just that good, and IMO, that good looking on PC.

GTA4 is still in contention for best looking game of all time for me. It's still easily the biggest technical feat combining that city with the Euphoria engine. Frostbite 2 almost tackled it, but there was too much stuff I couldn't blow up to de crown GTA4.

I think Max will run better since GTA4 runs 60fps inside buildings though. From what I've seen in the newer gameplay videos, R* knows exactly what a Max Payne sequel should be. That means 60fps on PC. Max Payne is one of those game where IMO, it really matters.

Alright, before I go off on you, I'm going to ask if you've played Max Payne 2 on PC, in a 4:3 pillar boxed AR with the super sampling cranked up.

Or are you basing this off a ten year old memory of the Xbox port?

Because Max Payne 2 easily makes my Top 5 all time, and knowing you, I think it would be up there on your list too.

I did not play these on PC. It was Xbox or PS2 or something.

Now I'm not saying they sucked; on the contrary, I played through both 1 and 2 back to back so they must have been somewhat fun.

But this marks the first time that I have even recalled that memory of playing them, so they obviously were forgettable and nothing amazing. I remember a lot of diving and shooting, kinda like that John Woo game Stranglehold. Another forgettable game

Naw, you gotta preorder Max Payne 3 on Steam (you get MP 1 and 2 for free) and let me configure Max Payne 2 for you for a replay before this comes out.

You're a little older now and you might appreciate the niore narration and story more than you did then. The atmosphere and writing are half of the enjoyment to me.

Get MP2 on PC and I'll show you how to properly configure it with that 580. Unfortunately there's no way to run widescreen without stretching everything, so you want to make a custom resolution of 1440x1080 (4:3) turn up 32xAA and 8xSGSSAA and watch the damn cutscenes and get into it. It's freaking great.
