It's asking for 3.56 though.

It was a just in case.

When you zero filled the drive did you delete the drives partition? If not try that, then try reinserting to the ps3 and getting it to format the drive.

If that doesn't work you're gonna end up having to call Sony and asking why their 3.56 firmware update screwed up when you tried replacing the drive.

It is a firmware bug, and it's only happening on Slims and the latter phats

If you have a 16mb flash memory, you can't swap hard drives right now.

Quote:
o CECHA = 256MB
o CECHB = 256MB
o CECHC = 256MB
o CECHE = 256MB
o CECHG = 256MB
o CECHH = 16MB
o CECHJ = 16MB
o CECHK = 16MB
o CECHL = 16MB
o CECHM = 16MB
o CECHP = 16MB
o CECHQ = 16MB
* SLIM NAND SIZE
o CECH-20..A = 16MB
o CECH-20..B = 16MB
o CECH-21..A = 16MB
o CECH-21..B = 16MB
o CECH-250.A = 16MB
o CECH-250.B = 16MB
o CECH-250.A = 16MB
o CECH-250.B = 16MB
o CECH-251.A = 16MB
o CECH-251.B = 16MB
Check your model #.

Said he's got a slim, he's definitely got the 16mb nand. I get it now... the 16MB nand ps3's are actually storing part of the OS on the HDD...

EDIT: I think you're screwed. Call Sony and tell them the new firmware screwed up your ps3 while you were swapping the drives.

Wow. Thats awful.

I actually have a friend who owns a game shop. He let me get a new slim, with the broken one as partial payment. I'll pay the rest off in a couple weeks.

Thanks to all that replied.

Sony is fucking up BIG TIME lately

It's not broken, you just have to wait for a firmware update.

Hahaha! Highdefforum is famous I suppose. It is awesome to see that there are people in the press lurking on our forums here seeing what wacky thing we talk about next. However this is not good for Sony. Hopefully as others have said, this will hurry up their plans to bring out the PS4 so that PC gaming can start moving foward again.

Angry Shenanigans

I just got a slim to replace my launch model. I backed up (thankfully) my ps3 fat and took out the 500 gb hdd I have in it to put in my slim. Got the same thing, that message is supposed to come up however it then gave the corrupted message. Tried everything in safe mode. Launched up my fat, starts fine and tells me to format the drive and had normal menus and everything. So I tried swapping hdds again to format the 500gb drive then put it in the slim. Nothing Tried recovering from my external backup and everything. Nothing works so basic.ly I have a new bricked slim and my old fat is restoring my backup now.... What the hell!!
