Default HD consoles suck

Wheee joining my 4 Xbox 360s in the console graveyard, my 60gb PS3 just packed in. It's quite interesting, all this HD console only mantra on here, I've only ever had 5 consoles pack in, and all 5 are current gen HD consoles.

Expect rabid Wii fanboyism to continue for the forseeable future

*me looks at pile of games which I was just finally getting chance to play

*sigh

If you didn't subscribe to PSN+, consider this your own fault.

It's kind of a given. We're talking about pretty advanced stuff all crammed into little cases, failures are bound to happen.

Suck it up Mike. Send that 60 into Sony and trade it up for a slim on the cheap.

I have no money and no job from end of this month. Will the forum buy me one? think I'll just end up selling my blu-rays and games at this rate Might go back to the Slimsixty ;p ooo ooo or Starcraft 2 is out now, maybe just switch my games for a new gaming PC

As for kind of a given, the Dreamcast etc were all mega advanced when they came out, they still last longer than 3 years which I've no evidence any current gen console can manage It wouldn't be so bad, if the content wasn't all on the consoles meaning they have you by the balls with your stuff.

I use the Wii as a sobering tool when I've had had too much to drink at someone else's house.

That's about it.

I wouldn't buy another console that was manufactured by the lowest bidder and engineered by a marketing department.

Think about what you want in a gaming system and build it yourself.

If you're getting sober playing a Wii then you're doing it wrong

Fire up the Wii!

Sorry to hear about another failure. My guess is that the power of these things combined with trying to cram it into an ergonomic box and then sell it at a mass-adopting price point quality takes a hit.

I decided to steal my dads 40gb PS3 for the time being found a place who repair YLOD for £59.99 so am trying to find out a bit more about them but will probably send the current PS3 off for repair to them. Hopefully they can fix it as I don't wanna lose my Rock Band downloads. But then I think a PS3 Slim moved up the priority list.

Mind you, I want a 360 slim too... and a gaming PC and gah why is gaming so expensive!?

Sorry to hear bout that Mike. I had a 40 gig crap out on me about a month ago. I picked up a slim and will most likely send the 40 in for repair.

You should be able to just re download anything you legitimately purchased from the RB DLC store. I know you can on Xbox Live, I can't imagine it's any different on PSN.

I was able to download everything I had bought before.

I think Mike imported it, not sure though. Because he's in a different region he might have problems re-downloading DLC. I'm not sure

Sorry to hear about your console issues. My launch PS3 60GB lasted from 11/2006 to 1/2010 so I only got just over 3 years out of mine. Hoping the slim lasts longer since I have TWO of them now.

Also check with Sony about the cost of trading in the launch unit for a slim. Here in the USA it is half the cost of buying a new slim, and I got them to throw in a free game with it.

Bummer about your bad luck Mike, it's amazing to hear of so many failures from one individual. I have a 360 Elite that just collects dust, since I'm an on/off gamer (usually off). My original 360 bought 11/06 gets a ton of use, although it was replaced free due to the RROD issue back in '08.
