I havn't played it, but from what I have read, its a "masterpiece". Get it on and let us know what you think to it! The original had so much potential.

Gonna pick it up tonight. I have a 10% off coupon for BestBuy silver elite members. And I want to grab a collectors edition of the Wizard of Oz Bluray boxset for my wife for christmas so that will be a nice savings with the coupon.

Scored a 9.0 on gamespot they had very little bad to say about it.

I picked up ACII and L4D2 last night breaking the pocketbook.

I'm only about 30 minutes into the game so far and they did a fantastic job of recapping the story line. I'm on my first few missions and haven't received any weapons or formal assasin training yet.

Environments are beautiful. The monetary system they added to the gameplay is sweet, as is picking items up from street vendors. Whores are a nice addition too. I'm a bit of a history buff, and while it's fictitous, it's clear they did their homework of what was going on in 1459 and the age of self-expressionism.

Can't wait for the DaVinci gadgets!

Just got this in from GameFly yesterday. But I'm too busy playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Dragon Age to start it yet!

Have had the game for about 10 days now its awesome and was in my best games of the decade list. Expands everything from the original and to me felt longer also due to the better side missions. Unlike AC1 where it was all flags here you have different things to collect and each has a significant unlock attached to it.

BTW to all those worried about AC1 being repetitive Ubisoft Montreal did not repeat the same mistake at all, they also tied up the loose ends from 1 pretty quickly.

The only thing that I preferred about AC1 was the Arab roots of the story which I don't think is an issue as this Italian tale set during the Renaissance is far more interesting ripe with storytelling opportunities. Also for the people into the historical facts this game delivers in spades as it shows just how much research went into making this game accurate.

Thats what i wanted to hear !!! the flags and racing side missions inthe first one become very repetitive and boring. i cant wait to play this tonight

i know alot of people had issues with the storyline in the first one but i actually thought it was pretty cool how they recorded his memories in that machine. it leaves the posibilites completely wide open and i cant wait to find out what happen to him when he was trying to escape that building.

I hope to get the shrinkwrap off this year, but with MW2, L4D2, and Dragon Age.....not so sure it's gonna happen.

Busted it open.

Played for about two hours.

-Cutscenes are PLENTIFUL and look much much much worse than gameplay. You'll even "lol ps2 haha" for most of every cutscene. Peoples long flowing hair is relegated to one stiff polygon. Faces are Halo 3/ODST worthy. Incredible amounts of screen tearing in the cutscenes, but I haven't found any during GAMEPLAY.

+ the gameplay is TREMENDOUSLY improved over AC1. Everything is looser (in a good way, AC1 was really stiff)

+the graphics during GAMEPLAY are among the best on consoles when the IQ isn't shitting it's pants. You have texture pop-in, and it's much worse brother, entire object pop-in. Luckily, the IQ doesn't shit it's pants all the time. I've noticed major gafs probably 5 times in 3 hrs playtime (which is 25 minutes of gameplay. this game is on some MGS4 shit with the cutscenes).

-The cutscenes in this game are the worst I've ever seen. It bears repeating. I'm not saying they're the worst ever, I don't play bad games so I guess I don't see bad cutscenes. This shit is terrible.

-Voice acting is HORRIBLE. Worse than the cutscene quality.

+There is a shop system and enemies drop loot, so you have better reason to fight baddies and explore.

+fighting baddies is the exact same thing. get 10 guys in a circle and they attack you ONE AT A TIME. Batman AA really makes this system look archaic. But if you judge it in a vacuum, it's not bad. If you liked AC1 combat you'll have no problem with AC2.

Reports are you can pull 20-30 hours out of this with sidequest, and so far the sidequest have all been different. No more mission xerox that AC1 had. With the RPG-ish shop system (weapons, armor, health stuff, etc) and the length of the game, it makes a strong run at being worth $60.

But the cutscenes. Just plain horrible. Drops this game from a strong 8.75 to a 7.00. I have a feeling that I won't bother to care to finish it because the story actively sucks that bad, and is presented ever worse.

MAIN GRIP -> the first two hours are worse than any Zelda chicken hunting game intro. you'll have no fun at all. more cutscenes than MGS4, and far far far worse. even if you hated MGS4 you'll hate the cutscenes worse. they are sooooooooo bad. soo bad. i'd rather listen to dane cook talk about his d!ck than bear these fuckers. they're sooooo bad.

A tale of two products here folks. I'd rent it for the scenery at least. If you can find something else to do during the bull, the killing and looting is really great. Every thing else is worse than the shittest shit ever shat.

Now your'e scaring me. I LOVED the original AC... but if they went in that direction with it I'm gonna cry. Altair while you hardly got to know him was a tremendous character. As was the environment he was in, I was hoping for better. Or maybe my standards are low enough... I dunno. I'll let you know when I open it. OH BB did take my coupon 2 days early after I told them I'd just order it from Amazon then. I also had a MyPassport and a Collectors Edition of Wizard of Oz in my hands that I was going to put down> Total savings on Silver Premier card was pretty good today overall.

Thinking back I have to agree with one thing the cut scenes are definitely worse then gameplay segments but that was the case with AC1. That said they do get a lot better later in the game, and trust me that pop in that you complain about is intentional. It happens from the Animus and is intended as a sign that something is missing from the memory. Once you play it all the way through you'll see what I mean. Kam trust me the first 2-3 hours are slow but once it gets going it will get a lot better play the thing through and you will see the light especially now that you have finished the slower part.

Yeah I generally like and agree with Kam's posts, but on this one I'm going to disagree in most of it. The game play is fantastic. It was VERY slow to start but a couple hours in I'm doing leaps of faith and stabbing guards in the throat with a hidden blade. And I'm not even an assassin yet, really. Also I like how they already set the game up for the 3rd and supposedly final one right at the very beginning.

I've only just gotten to the second sets of leaps of faith but there's a LOT of cool hidden shit. The hidden puzzles are nifty and I will for sure want to find them all.

The one thing I agree with Kam on is that the cut scenes are circa 2002. Block faced, not sure whats going on with that. And the game can be a bit dark at night. If there's a gamma adjustment I haven't found it. I may have to bump my TV's brightness a bit but then daytime might be TOO bright so I don't know if it's intended or not.
