I dunno.. With the state of the economy, high unemployment, low consumer confidence, etc, stores are having sells before black friday to get consumers in the mood to recklessly spend more money and put themselves in more debt…

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=WMT

Walmart’s fiscal year starts on February 1st, so 41 weeks into it would be this up coming Saturday.

If true and easily available, will buy another Arcade.

Hmm, TV's $300 off there already very low price, laptop models not released yet for $289 and a Sony Blue Ray player $50 off as well. Smells like Black Friday to me. But I hope your rite and it is just another Walmart weekend sale without the trample fest. I will be all over it.

May be a return of the secret sales from 2 years ago leading up to black friday.

I believe it was the Pro that was in the process of being fazed out.

I don't see Microsoft removing the Arcade from their line up. There is no need to.

People buy it cuz its cheap, Microsoft wins.
People get gouged upgrading it, Microsoft wins again.

They should remove the Elite and only sell White and Black Arcades!

For $298 it looks very good.. 15.6 inch screen, 250 GB hard drive, 3 Gig of DDR2 ram, LiteScribe DVD burner and Windows 7 premium. Only issue is the Celoron CPU. I hate Celorons for the most part, but the 900 series at 2.2 ghz and 1 MB of cache is pretty good for a Celeron (non dual core). But again, for only $298 it is a slam dunk if e-net and wp use is the major function.

Features of the HP 15.6" Pavilion G60-519WM Entertainment Laptop PC include Intel Celeron Processor 900 at 2.2GHz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB SATA HDD at 7200rpm, 15.6-inch BrightView display with 1,366x768px resolution, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M (shared) with up to 1309MB of total available graphics memory, LightScribe SuperMulti DVD optical drive with double-layer support, Wifi, mode, and 6-cell battery.
The HP G60-519WM runs Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit edition.

Since Windows 7 is not as hardware hungry, the HP G60-519WM might be performing well enough for web surfing, emailing and some office work. If you just need a notebook for basic tasks the price of $298 is a bargain price for a Windows 7 notebook at the moment.

Just basic surfing for now. Picture/Music management as well.

I may want to upgade to something more powerful in the future. My old laptop is getting tight on memory and would rather spend $300 on a new laptop instead of buying an external HDD for my 5 year old Dell.

My bro successfully got an Arcade at his local Wal-mart, said they had at least 30 more units on the floor, and things didn't seem any busier than usual.

I decided to pass, if I am going to spend anything on a console it will be a PS3. Despite the good deal, it kinda pisses me off to think that I need a backup for my current 360 because the hardware is shit from a reliability standpoint.

Heheh, wonder how many of those arcade buyers also picked up Forza 3 to go with it.
