God of War III demo impressions. Holy F-

Just completely visceral crazy fun.

The demo is the E3 build, so it's an early build.

Frame rate mostly at 30 with jumps to almost 60 once in a while.

The game has great anti aliasing. Console games usually pelt my eyes with jaggies, but not the case here.

The QTEs are beyond brutal.

You fight 3-4 minibosses and do a freaking cool new piece of gameplay that isn't combat or platforming related (not going to spoil it).

Lighting is sweet, but imperfect in this build. Some scenes are among the best I've seen

and in others there are somewhat glaring lighting errors. I'll chalk those up to the early nature of the build though. There isn't much polish on the demo, but I don't get a sense it's things that will be in the retail code. Just some small stuff.

Textures are pretty damn close to Uncharted 2, and the animation on some of the minibosses is cutting edge.

You'll all play it when the GOW collection comes out in a couple weeks anyway.

I did swear a lot during my first play through due to some of the bad assery. Don't play it with elderly people or small children near by.

In short, another AAAA first party Sony game.

Just think- if that's how good the game looked in June/July 2009, what will it look like in March 2010?

How did you get the demo already? At first I thought District 9 came out (then checked and saw it doesn't come out till December) and I know the GOW Collection isn't out yet. Are you and Pinoy just special or something

Adding to Kam's highlights: the textures are indeed pretty damn good, the skin on the cyclops you ride (you've all seen it) is impressive to say the least.

I'm not a huge hack and slash fan, but I'm picking this up no questions asked.

nevermind, i found the answer. i checked my email and theres one from sony/playstation saying "preorder God of War III now and get a demo" .. so there you go. if you preorder it at like ebgames you probably get a voucher code to use on the PSN to download the demo right now.

A few people were email codes by Sony and it made it's way across the internet via game sharing pretty quick. If anyone REALLY can't wait until the GOW Collection comes out, GAF still had a thread with a game share queue going on.

That was AWESOME. The head-ripping off felt tame compared to that cyclops eyeball rip-out

I have a feeling backgrounds will have more detail in final game but the frame rate was kinda unstable
