Nice setup........ I was wondering if fireplace is for show or do you use it. If you use it I would put a thermometer on the mantle to sample the heat and a piece of white paper to check for soot which could attach itself to the screen, remember electrical components act as a magnet for dust and soot (screen biggest enemy) But setup look really nice enjoy

How can anyone watch standard def?

Thanks for the comments. Yep we use it! Before the system was designed (or even before the walls were framed) we were sure to use a blown & rear vented gas fireplace. The ambient temperature under that big mantel never reaches over 80. Above the mantel basically stays at room temperature with a minor fluctuation of a few degrees. The component & speaker lines are all tucked through the studs routed back and down away from any obstructions or heat vents. The ducting behind the fireplace is also reverse insulated to keep the heat going outside and not sitting behind the wall.

The lines then take a generous 40 foot path through the basement ceiling all the way to the component closet located near the front of the house, which is also vented for the electronics.
