The most popular LCoS projectors are made by Sony and JVC. Sony calls theirs SXRD while JVC calls them D-ILA. Their latest models were announced within the past 6 months.

And to add to what borromini said, they are some of the best projectors available.

I wonder if these LCOS displays will have issues down the road and not last as long as the other techs. It seems Sony and JVC have both abandoned this LCOS tech in RPTVs, and I know Sony had a lot of issues with these RPTVs after a good amount of hours are on them.
Maybe the mfg think in the FP market they are not used as many hours continuously that the issues with the RPTVs will not happen with the FP? I agree that from everything I have read the LCOS FP are some of the best out there.

The LCoS FPs made by Sony and JVC as far back as 2002/2003 have performed on par with their LCD cousins from the same manufacturers and others as far as endurance and continuous use. There have been no mention in any tech writings I've read regarding a concern for LCoS FPs versus DLP and LCD.
I can't comment on the RPTV scene since I've never been attracted to that segment. As you know RPTV's demise was due to failing interest once flat panels became cost effective and Sony along with many other brands has completely pulled out of that segment for this reason . Meanwhile, FPs of all flavors have quietly and slowly continue to increase in popularity for home theater displays.

Thanks for the info Borromini!
I never really investigated how the LCOS FP hold up compared to the other types. It just seems that there have been a lot of issues with Sony & JVC LCOS RPTVs and that likely contributed to their decision to exit the RP market. I know the Sony SXRD LOCOS sets seem to have a lot of optical block issues and Sony had to give credit back many people who owned them, that had the yellow blob, green blob, etc issues. Good to know that the FP versions of LCOS have not had such issues.

You are right going from my memory. I think JVC had issues with lamps on their RPTVs early on, but AFAIK, they solved that issue.
