The bulb in my high definition projector is about to burn out. I get a message when I turn on the projector telling me this. I have not replaced the bulb yet, and now yesterday the high definition channels became dark. The regular channels are fine, but any high efinition channels appear dark and hard to see. This is not something that can be fixed by adjusting the brightness. Does anyone know if this is related to the bulb burning out? Has anyone experienced this before?

Do you not at least have a back-up bulb? If so, plug it in to find out the answer to your question.

I replaced the bulb, but my high def channels are still dark. All regular channels are fine. Now I don't know if the projector is going bad or if it is the cable company.

Do you have a true HD source other than cable to check? A DVD player if no true HD source? I can think of nothing other than cable issues since a projector shouldn't be dark for HD signals and show adequate brightness for SD channels unless I am missing a possible projector failure or an issue I haven't heard of.

Have you tried calling your cable guy...... there might be some adjustment needed now.

Apparently the problem was the settings on the projector. I used the menu to reset to all default settings and the dark channels became bright again. I don't remember changing any settings, but resetting to default cleared up the problem.

![]() Dark HD channels and normal brightness SD channels don't seem to have anything to do with the cable company to me. Did you think the cable guy would come out and adjust the HD brightness knob outside ?
