I am also concerned with the life of the bulb. If I am to install a projector, do you have a specific projector that has a longer bulb life than 3000 hours?
This installation is going to be running continuously for days on end, years at a time. I need a projector and a bulb that can withstand this heat. |

It isn't the heat that is an issue the bulbs have a finite number of hours. I believe there is one or two projectors out there that claim 4000 hr bulb life but that is tops that I have seen.

In applications where the PJ is left on for "hours on end" you may well find that the life of the bulb increases (time wise) significantly.
At our retail outlet the PJ's would be turned on at 10a and off at 8p every day of the year. Sony's, Hit's, Mits, Panny's... all would run 5 to 6 k hours or more before failure. Power cycles (off/on) or power failures and dirty filters are the real killers of bulbs. If you are going to watch a few shows, then split for dinner returning afterwords for more viewing, leaving the PJ on is probably better than the heat up / cool down cycles for a 1 or 3 hour intermission. If you are prone to power failures or brown outs, I strenuously recommend a batter back up on any bulb based device. Doug k

I agree 100% with d6500k. Keeping the projector internally and externally clean to insure cooling is also very important.
