Default Can changing resolutions oftenly shorten projector lifespan?

I have a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD and every time I change from a non-HD channel to a HD channel (vice versa) it changes resolutions. (Eg. 480p to 720p)

I was wondering if it could shorten the lifespan of a DLP projector...

Nope. Res changes are not detrimental to bulb longevity.

Bulb killers...

1. Power down without fan
Solution: Battery backup

2. Frequent power cycles.
Solution: Leave it on if the power down time is to be less than an hour

3. High output modes
Solution: Dim the ambient room lighting and set the PJ to lowest lamp output mode. Recalibrate to this mode and save the settings in a user preset for film viewing
