I agree with anything Junkie and Rizz say and demand that action be taken immediately!

I think there is a definite problem since the number of people online here has dropped off about 30% in the last couple of days and i suspect it might be partially because of the slowdown frustrating some. Hopefully it can be figured out soon.

FYI, today it is slower for me than yesterday also.

We changed the caching engine today to see if this will help.

Also, visitors and pageviews haven't dropped, so it doesn't appear that people are leaving because the site is slow. Still, if the site is slow we need to get it fixed asap.

I am still unable to replicate the problem, and all of the server info looks great.

It is good to know the site didn't have any visitor drop off and I likely just looked at odd times/moments. My observation certainly was not scientific and your logs show I was wrong about this, which is good to know/hear.

So far it does seem a little quicker now.

The site hasn't changed for me. It is still running extemely slow. Is there anything else I can try to make it run faster for me? If I try to quote a post with a picture in it, it takes several minutes for the post to come up.

Here is a little description of what is happening to me not sure if it will help you out or not IB-DICK.

When I open the forum it takes roughly 45 seconds to a minute for it to open. Then when I select a thread it opens it but it freezes and then it acts like it opens it 2 more times before I can navigate the thread or section of the forum. When I post it does the same thing. I click on post reply and it starts posting it but it freezes and I can't do anything. It acts like it tries to post 2 more times. On the 3rd try it posts and everything is fine until I try to change threads, sections of the forum or post again.

I hope this will give you a better idea of what is happening.

Can you give me an example of a post with a picture in it? See, when you quote a post with a picture, you're not actually sending any of the picture data, just the reference to the picture, as in so it shoudn't be any different that quoting any other post.

Can you tell me a little about your system? Are you using DSL? What browser, etc?

I'm using DSL with 3meg download and IE8. I was in the High Def Bar and Grill the other night and one of the guys posted a picture of his set up and it took almost 5 minutes for the picture to appear after I quoted the post. Not sure of the exact post number. Every time I post or quote a post it is extremely slow. Posts with pictures in them are even more time consuming for me to quote or post. People will post pictures and everyone else will see them but it may 5 or 6 minutes later before I see them. This just started happening a week ago.

Can you try Firefox and see if that helps? Isn't IE8 still a beta release or did they go gold now? I don't follow IE much because i avoid running it whenever possible. I know in that last major slowdown IE6 was without the hanging issues but i would rather have it slow than use IE myself.

Try Firefox and see if that changes the speed for you, and let us know the results.

No changes with Firefox. IE8 is now gold. I've been running IE8 Beta for months with no problem. Rizzo is having problems also. He said his will run fine during the day but in the evening it starts acting up but I don't know what he is running. It seems the later in the evening it gets the slower the forum is for me. Like I said the problem started for me last Tuesday. I've had problems in the past with the forum being really slow but it usually only lasts a few hours or maybe a day. This is the longest and the worst the forum has run for me. If there is any other kind of info I can give you please let me know. I'll try to give you all the help I can.

Ok I just switched back to Firefox and it is running fine. Apparently there is a problem with IE. Got me as to whats going on. Maybe IE users are the only ones having problems. Hope this helps.

Ok IB-DICK, Firefox is blazing fast. I went back to IE8 and slow as a turtle. But the forum is the only site that I can find that I am having problems with while using IE8.

I went back and turned off all add ons on IE8 and now the forum is working fine. Some addon is slowing the forum down in IE8. I don't know why it worked fine until last Tuesday but after turning off all Addons IE8 is working fine now. Thanks everyone for all the help.
