Default Sony Bravia screen resolution help

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Sony Bravia 1080p LCD Flat Panel HDTV.

The resolution right now is set at 480i. The words are blurry and the picture isn't very good with it set at that. I can't find the user manual and I've messed with the remote... but I can't seem to find any settings to change this.

How do I change the resolution? Do I need to purchase any thing to get the best picture quality?

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Corey

What is your input source (cable, antenna, satellite) and how is it connected to your TV?

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. The input source is cable and my guess is that it's connected to the TV with that.

You really need a HD cable box to experience all of the HD goodness. Contact your cable company for that, first. Then if you have any troubles come back and let us know.

You cannot change the TV's display resolution. The 480i you see is the resolution of the input signal that the TV is receiving. It is not the resolution of the display. Your TV scales all input signals to its native resolution of 1920x1080 and displays them progressively. In other words, your TV always displays at 1080p. To get a better picture you need to provide the TV with a higher resolution input signal such as an HD cable box suggested by Loves2Watch.

BTW, if you have lost your TV's manual you download a PDF copy from the Support section Sony's web site.

Which model Sony do you have? You should at least be receiving the 5 major networks in HD, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and CW... even with Basic cable.

... and yes... you should be able to find your manual on Sony's website, just visit the Support link.
