Default Bestbuy's $10 Samsung TOC LN52A650 mistake - not honored?

I'm among those who "noticed" it, but I couldn't actually get my order for 3 $10 Samsung LN52A650's through at 4am. I thought about getting the 3 year Geek Squad warranty for $20 per unit.

But it looks like they're not going to honor it.

I cannot imagine that more than a couple that fall through the cracks will actually get it at this price.

The sad thing is that many are talking about a class action suit.

Imagine if each one of us had to live with and pay out millions for every mistake we made.

I don't know the law on this subject. It's hard to say whether the fine print is legal or not. On the one hand, $9.99 is OBVIOUSLY a mistake, or if it's not a mistake it sure looks like one. On the other, they kept it on the site for a VERY LONG TIME, at least 7 hours if not more. Obviously I would take a $10 Samsung LED even with $70 shipping if my order was able to go through, but by 5am or so the cite was not actually accepting orders, at least not for me.

I was skeptical to say the least, for for all I know they had a ton of LED returns, so many they just wanted to get rid of those puppies. Not being sure if the mfg would cover this outlet item, I thought about buying into their 3 year extended service plan for $20, lulz.

We'll see what BB does about it. Amazon in the past made a ton of mistakes back in 2000. Their various coupon deals and such made it possible to order things for free, small things like batteries, over and over again, 50 pounds of batteries. They revamped the system, but to their credit, they did honor those of us that exploited their system.

Of course this was a mistake. It doesn't matter how many LEDs they had in stock as they would not knowingly sell them for only $10.00.

No one could (with a straight face anyway) expect them to honor such a huge discrepancy in the price. I know i wouldn't expect it but I would be happy if they did for me.

Honoring a $2.00 error on a $2.00 item is different than a $1890.00 pricing discrepancy/error for $10.00 on each TV.

I do wonder if they added that pricing disclaimer AFTER they found the error though. That would be funny.

anyone who sues over this is just plain greedy..... and you cannot get upset at Best Buy if they do not honor your order due to major mistake. it would be different if you had already taken delivery on the tv. but in any event, you knew it was a mistake, and you tried to take advantage of it. shame on you for thinking that you could get away with it.

There is a conspiracy theory running around that they did this so they could collect new e-mail addresses and spam customers. "Could" be true, but without evidence I'm leaning toward obviously a mistake.

When we're talking 50+ pounds of batteries. We're talking a value of $900~$1800. Though it is difference since you had to make separate orders, 227 of them to be exact, to get your 50 lbs of batteries, plus shipping.

ETA: Sorry, that should actually should be up to $3600 dollars and roughly 500 orders.

I image they will be paying legal fees just to know where they stand even before some try to do a class action suit as some have been saying, so I doubt they would risk those costs & a possible hit on their rep just to get email addresses. I bet the already have millions and millions of email addresses already. I know they have mine and I never get spammed by them, so I doubt this was done to farm email addresses, and is simply a data entry error when updating prices.

I thought companies outsourced their website information to outside web design firms...?

Many do and I do not know if BB does or not, but many of the largest companies have a department in house to handle it. I know Verizon had their own staff when I was an Admin there.

This is just silly. Best Buy has a price error disclaimer and obviously this falls under that clause. Why anybody would even bother with complaining about the cancellation is the only question I have.

I will be surprised if there is a class action lawsuit. I can't even imagine what the claim could be since as far as I know, price error disclaimers are valid in all 50 states. It isn't like there was single person that could have ordered this without knowing it was nothing more than a price error.

Anyone that saw the TV for that price had to know something was seriously wrong, to even expect delivery I do not think so.
