Lightbulb PS58B850Y1W (Panasonic plasma, 8th gen): Kuro still king?

Hi,
I was going to lay my hands on a Kuro 6090LH.... then the very day I went to buy it, I was introduced to the aforementioned 58 inches last gen plasma from Samsung.

I'd like to hear what you feel to say about a very basic comparison between the two.

Thanks,

andrea

Kuro is still the winner, by a long shot...

Can you elaborate just a bit?

(My eyes would say the same, except for the "long shot" - I couldn't see all that difference. The specs seem to be somewhat in favour of the last gen samsung. One samsung tv's given advantage: almost half the power consumption of the Kuro, and considerably thinner)

Nothing can touch the black levels of the Kuro, nothing.

I just love it when posters come on here and start trying to tear apart the KUROs when they have never experienced one in person in a home enviroment...

Just read every professional review of the Pioneer KUROs for the past two years and you may begin to understand.

I did that Don't be too fast judging me! I am not trying to tear apart it at all - it's almost the opposite: I am trying to be absolutely sure that the money for it will be well spent.

I *do* have experienced it in a home environment, as a matter of fact. It's the new models, the one that came out from Samsung, Sony etc. - that I didn't experience. That's why I wonder.

I ask myself if black is still so important or other factors have been improved to the point of making blackness less relevant. I am just dubious because the Kuro is still an appliance from 2008, and usually electronic stuff tends to get old in just a couple years.

That's all!

Kuro is still the best, no doubt about it even with the newer LCD technology. LCD's can't compare on many levels (depth, color gamut, fast motion handling, off axis viewing and of course black levels) and never will be able to. Panasonic plasma is second, only to Kuro.

Thanks. I value a lot the opinion of someone that has 11,000 or 25,000 posts on a forum like this, and probably owns/owned lots of different AV equipment through the years. So be it. It's gonna be kuro 6090LH.

Oww, don't throw another competitor into my arena of uncertainity!

A last thing about the PS58B850Y1W: the SD scaler was *awesome*. That's something I never had the chance to see on the Kuro. Where I live (Italy), SD tv is going to be with us for a loooooooooong time.
