Default Need advice on a Sammy UN46B8000 LED

I'm looking to buy the new Sammy 46B8000 LED. Are they any better, than say a Plasma of the same price range? Just some light gamming from time to time. I need help with the pros and cons here. I will be looking to go wireless pc to tv in the near future, so what should I be looking for? I'm dumping an older sammy LN-T4061-60hz motion blurry unit, fast.

Although those Samsung LEDs are great when you are directly in front of the display, when you move to the sides and view it at an angle, you will have a fast drop off in PQ & contrast/colors with these new LEDs.

With plasmas you get great black levels, great viewing angles, great motion resolution, and a more uniform screen compared to this LED based LCD. They do not say it, but this LED is really an LCD (like your prior TV) but with LED back light instead of florescent back lighting.

I would check our the Panasonic P46g10, V10, or even the S1 if you are sensitive to blurring motion as some people are more sensitive to it. If the screen gets blurry with motion on one of these models, then it is in the source material since they offer full 1080 resolution with motion in the 2009 models. My 2008 model only does about 900 lines and is much better than my 2 LCDs. I think you will be shocked at how much cheaper the Panasonic plasmas are with a better PQ also.

Hope this helps & welcome!

Thanks for the advice PFC5, I'm truly crossed between the plasmas and the newer 240hz LCD's that are out there now. The other inportant issue is getting internet access from my gateway GT5694 desk top pc to a tv display via HDMI or USB lan device. Any pointers?

If you are going to use it for more than about 5-10% computer monitor use then you should go with LCD. As far as connections just make sure your video card has HDMI output for the connection.
