I have my Panasonic plasma calibrated for an accurate picture which i would want even without the gaming use, but I have not had ANY burn-in either and sometimes the kids leave the game up on a static screen for as much as an hour with no issues after the break in period. There was some momentary (1-2 min but only seen with a black or all white screen) Image retention (IR) for the first month or so, but even that is not happening anymore.

Televisions › Plasma › 1080p › $800-$1100 at Amazon.com. I made your $ range a little wider so you can catch sales and better TV's for slightly more.
