Pappylap is correct that Pioneer currently has the best PQ, but at a higher price for most buyers. I couldn't afford a Pioneer plasma when they were charging twice the money, but they have dropped the prices substantially now that they are exiting the display market. It is worth considering if you don't worry about available parts/repair that may be required down the road, but i would suggest including the cost of a 4 year extended warranty as a comfort level decision and make sure you can at least get your money refunded if it cannot be fixed during that extended warranty.
