Default need help with pioneer 50 inch plasma.

I can not figure out how to change the brightness or contrast on this TV. Trying to play a game but it is impossible to see a lot with all the pitch black darkness everywhere. How do I access the settings for the TV and why are they hidden????

The Pioneers don't really get too bright. Have you looked in the manual to change the settings? There should be modes like "Dynamic", "Optimum", "Movie", etc somewhere in the menu.

I will say that the menu is unlike other TVs, which makes it difficult for some to navigate.

What model is it? Also do you have the remote for it?

Most TVs now are a royal pain to navigate without the remote. You can usually get the manual online from the mfg, but you need the full model number to find the correct manual for your TV. You should always post the model number for equipment you need help with as models can change quite a bit over the years.

are you able to access the menu using the buttons on the TV? If not, you need to find a remote but I find it hard to believe that a brand like Pioneer would have such dependency on the repote

I would say get a OEM remote or consider a Harmony remote as a start.

Do you have the
media receiver (pdp-r06u) or is that missing too?

EDIT:

I think this is the manual for your display:

This seems like a case of someone not doing research and just expecting results and answers immediately.

Is that what it seems like C20? Cause I thought that this was a website for people who could research a problem or find answers to there questions....??? You make it tough for people to want to post when you degrade them for doing so....

I agree that Codes20 response was a little short, but he has been a great member who has helped a lot of people here.

He may have just had a bad day and this response is not his typical response nor is it indicative of most members responses either. I am glad you pointed this out so new members see this response by me, and do not feel they cannot post because of the possibly response being hostile.

We like to keep this site very friendly to newbies as someone has to learn somewhere and this site is a great place to learn with great members to help. This is where I learned countless things and we ALL are continuing to learn more.

Perhaps I was hasty. I'll pass the blame onto lack of sleep this week due to finals and graduation.

But I see cases like this day in and day out and after a while, I do call it like I see it. If someone can find this website, they certainly should be able to find the manual online and/or contact Pioneer.

ya i found a manual online didn't have any information about a menu, i have the receiver, i can't find a website with any explanation about this by pioneer...Also Pioneers website said they weren't selling remotes for this. And i was expecting results immediately when i started pushing buttons on the device... every monitor or tv i have used in history had an easy to access menu for dynamics...

The link I posted for the menu in post #7 here DOES have info about the menus that starts on page 37 of that manual. It is likely going to be tougher without the remote, but there should be controls on the TV. You may have to get a good universal remote like the Harmony Remotes which doesn't need the OEM remote to work well.

Hope this helps!
