I'm about to purchase a 50" panny plasma, and I want it mounted on the wall. However, I hear your supposed to mount it where the center of the screen is at eye level. If I were to mount it higher then eye level, would that be a big deal? I have a big dog and a 5 year old kid. I want it out of harms way as much as possible.

My opinion on height is that it should be at a natural level for your eyes when you're sitting on the couch. This also keeps the TV as part of the atomosphere of the room instead of a seperate item hung on the wall like a picture and makes it easier to have it on as background when you have company over. Your guests will be less likely to notice you stealing a peak at the big game if the TV's at eye level. Keeping it a safe distance from hazards (ie kids, dogs) is also a consideration but with careful planning this can all be achieved.

my 50" pioneer is hung on the wall about 5 feet off the ground.. i thought it would be a big deal looking up a little but its not at all.. meanwhile my friends tv is hung about 8 feet from the ground and that is too high and gets annoying
you will probably get used to looking up at the tv quickly and wont be a problem |
