Default 50PX8U Panasonic with Xbox 360 problems

Look at the picture.

When I'm playing video games such as the 360 it shows this problem when shooting in video games it shows this interlace stuff.

TV and everything works perfectly fine.

The xbox 360 is connected through the composite thing (the red blue green thing).

Should I return this to bestbuy?

Before you return it, try swapping out the cable. Or connect to Component 2.

See if moving the component wires away from the other cables solves or changes the lines on the screen. If it does then it is likely poor shielding on the cables. Can you try hooking the 360 up to another display with the same component cables to see if it is different on that display? If it is not an issue with a different HDTV (must be HD to have the component connection) then it is likely your TV, but if the problem exists it is likely the 360 or the cables.

Try buying new component cables also as a troubleshooting option also.

Good luck!

It works perfectly fine with my friend's HDTV using the component connection. He also has an HDTV LCD screen. His xbox and everything works without interferance.

Its really weird that both the 2 total component connections I have in my TV wouldn't work with my Xbox 360.

Any other thoughts? Its really hassle for transportation to return my TV and such.

i really want to know if i return this or not. I have 30 days. Im guessing i should give it a week and wait for it to break in before coming into conclusion about this red static.

also how come my tv can play 1080p resolution when its only a 720p tv?

I went through a similar problem with my cable a while back (which led me to fire Time Warner for the rest of my life). They couldn't figure out what was wrong with the picture after running a billion tests.

Turns out it was my component cables being old and cheaply made. I replaced them with different cables, and the problem went away. I'm not saying it'll fix your problem, but if it doesn't, you can always return the new component cables & it will cost you nothing.

I think it's worth a shot rather than returning the TV. That would be a hassle!

So you tried your 360 on your friends LCD and it worked fine with no issues?? If so, it is probably your TV or settings. Are you using the M$ version of the component video cable? If so, those are a decent quality cable and well shielded, but defects are always possible. Try switching out with your friends as well if you have not already.

Your TV is a 1366x768 (720p/768p) native resolution. It will take a 1080i or 1080p signal and downconvert it to its native resolution of 768p. What do you have your 360 set to (1080p/720p)?? It should not really matter as the TV should easily down convert and or de-interlace the 1080i/p or upconvert the 720p. Did you try 720p and if so do you get the same results?? If so it sounds like an issue with the TV's scaller/de-interlacer and should be returned. I have a 768p Panny plasma and my 360 works great at any setting. I use 1080p since it is better to have have your TV downconvert vs. upconvert, even if the value is greater from my findings...

Also, is the switch on the MS component cables turned to 'HD'? It's on the head of the cables that plug into the Xbox.

The fact that the same component cables works with my friend's LCD screen means that it has a problem with my TV.

Yeah I'm using Microsoft's cable.

Will it better to have a 1080p signal or to have the 720p signal to use with my TV? If so then how is that? Does it affect motion and such by setting your setting at a higher resolution?

I tried the 720, 1080p and 480p and all of them show the interference. Whats more is that my TV does not display Red. Instead the RED static is shown as interference (look at the picture in the original post).

Please answer as soon as possible as I have this weekend before thanksgiving to return it and dont want to ruin the big show...

I tried the PS3 with HDMI connection and it works perfectly fine. I might as well buy the Xbox HDMI adapter for the 360.
I don't really need to use Component connections, but are there any other uses for component connections? Do I need component connections?

Hmm, if you tried the PS3 via HDMI and everything works fine, then it doesn't sound like the scaller. It my just be an issue with the analog inputs (component/VGA). The red issue sounds like the analog board since you ruled out the 360/cable. You don't "need" your component inputs if you don't have any older devices that only have conponent outputs and you have plenty of HDMI inputs (at least 3).. But it is a new TV that is under exchange, so why not make sure that EVERYTHING is working properly. I know it is a hassle but worth it in the long run IMO..

main problem is getting transportation there and help because I live in college campus going up the stairs etc... and it was a hassle. Does Bestbuy usually provide customers with a free something to get it fixed? I really have no incentive if all I'm getting is another new TV because of going there, waiting an hour for them to get settled down, then putting it in my car, then carrying up the stairs then unpacking and such....

Any other thoughts?

Depending on what all you have plugged in the TV, maybe not. The way I see it, I dropped $2K for my TV, so I want the best cables possible to achieve the best picture. I do see a difference in HDMI and Component, so I got rid of all the component cables.

I have a DVD player that uses component cables, but all my movies go through the PS3 now. It's probably easier to drop a little cash on the HDMI adapter for the Xbox that it would be to move the TV, right? Plus, you'll get a better picture out of the deal.
