Default Response Time...

I am thinking about purchasing:

Samsung - 22" 720p Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
Model: LN22A450

It says that it has a 8ms response time. Is that fast enough? I will be using this HDTV to play video games on my PS3, to watch Blu Ray movies, and eventually I will buy a computer tower to hook up to it.

Thanks in advance.

Anything less than 16ms response time eliminates the "ghosting" effect seen on older LCD panels, with an 8ms screen you SHOULD not see any problems, but if you can find faster go for it, it really depends on how sensitive your eyes are.

Thank you that answered my question.

Actually it also depends on HOW they measured the response time. Some measure using gray to white to gray which will give better response times for the spec than measuring from black to white to black.

Virtually none of the current LCDs has eliminated motion smear do the LCD panels tech limits right now, but they are constantly improving them. Some double the scan rate to 120Hz on the higher end models, but many have reported that the motion with movies looks funny or unnatural using this mode. Even with a 120Hz LCD display there is STILL some motion smearing, but it is getting to the point where it is harder to see unless you are more sensitive to it than most people.

So when you see the spec for response times try to find out how they measured this spec to put the number in perspective with other mfg claimed response times.

Hope this helps!

Any particular reason you are thinking of buying a television instead of a monitor for what looks to be predominately computer monitor use? I would think that you could find a higher quality monitor with better overall specifications for the same or less money since you won't need the tuner (it appears).

Then again, I may be wrong.

I guess I forgot to mention that I will be using it to watch TV as well

This will be going into my bedroom and I will be watching TV with it at night, and I really really need a sleep timer.
