Hey XDRox have you used the disk on your Vizio VO37 yet? and if so could you post some pics.
On mine (VO32)I just used the THX Optimizer which is just a basic calibration but still did a really nice job. I love the look of my set. I was thinking of getting a DVE Disk just to play around with and have some more fun. Thanks |

I think the THX settings are different with different movies and seem to be "tuned" for that particular movie you are getting it off of. I found several different THX Optimizers resulted in slightly different settings depending on the movie on the disc.
I just use DVE now.

Hmmm interesting. If I'm in the mood this weekend I will use a couple of movies and check it out. I used the THX from Ice Age, it worked really well for my regular and movie viewing. But I still have the bug where I still like to play with the settings. It's driving my wife crazy.

Thx for the Sticky PFC, I for one, greatly appreciate it, and I think that many people new to the HD scene can get a real appreciation for calbrating, and that HD does not neccesarily mean that it is the BEST right out-of-the-box.

Very interesting even accounting for the artifacts that occur from the camera and transfer to the forum. What kind of digital camera did you use? I realize this question is

![]() The camera takes excellent pictures in high def at 16:9. The pictures of my example in the first post were taken at 3264x2448 pixels. I then used a photo program to shrink them to 1024x768 pixels so most forum members would not have a problem viewing them on their screen. I don't know about artifacts and all that stuff, but I do know that the photos are excellent depictions of what my screen actually looked like. And the difference between the non-calibrated vs. the calibrated were so good, I thought I should post the findings. |

Oh by the way, you understated the difference. The changes, including color rendition, are very significant.

This is WHY I thought it would make a good sticky myself. Most people do not even know that most displays with default settings look very poor compared to calibrating the display. Showing with pictures how much better the picture looks after being calibrated is the best way to help educate people on the generally poor factory settings their new HDTV has.

Calibration will provide you with truer realistic color renditions and image results.

Ok, I have the regular DVE calibration disc. Would it be worth it to buy the Blu-ray version to calibrate my PS3 and other inputs?

Yes I think it would be worth it. The Blu-ray version has added features and is presented in 1080p. For things like demonstration material and sharpness adjustment I think it would be worth it.
I have the SD version, the HD DVD version and the Blu-ray. They are all a little different. The Blu-ray is also way easier to navigate. |
