I will be moving in a few months and want to buy two plasma 50 inch TV's. I want an all inclusive unit.
In Pioneer that means the brand new PDP 50A5HD (that is one piece). This is the PDP 5050 HD but with one piece. In Panasonic it is the TH50PX500. Both Pioneer and Panasonic units should be on the market by July. Right now I am leaning to Panasonic, although there do not seem to be any bad choices in this group. Am I missing something? Any comments you have would be appreciated regarding these choices. Thanks

well, you have to look at the strengths of each panel then at your situation.
Pio - excellent scaler for SD, DVD material. Good for rooms with more light. Blacks are getting better but still not up to par with panny. Panny - best blacks in the plasma lineup. More suited to a room where light can be controlled, ie not a lot windows, etc. don't know the exact specs on the panels but you also may want to look at connection options, speakers, etc. |

I'm actually on the same boat as you are. I could probably say that I've been researching for the right display for me for quite a while now. Although, I think I already made up my mind to get a grip of the Panasonic TH-50PX500 in June or July. I'm leaning towards Panny instead of Pionneer due to it's price difference although I am quite attracted to Pio's (PDP-5050hd) front exterior shiny complete black bezel. I guess, you can never go wrong if you decided to buy any of these two. My tip for you is to not over analyze it coz' you'll end up getting paralysis by analysis syndrom like many of us here. lol
Good luck! |
