Default How do you get PIP to work on a Vizio?

I just got the new 37" 1080P Vizio from Costco yesterday. I have tried everything and PIP won't work. I just called Vizio and they said the TV is too new and they don't have a manual for it yet.

When I press the PIP button on the remote it say "not available, check parental settings." I went to the parental settings and there is nothing about PIP.

I tried hooking up through HDMI, component, composite, and TV antenna, nothing works.

To be honest I don't really even care about PIP, but the fact that I can't get it to work is driving me crazy.

I know this TV is new, but I'm hoping the PIP works like it does on older models.

Any ideas?

switch your source from cable to "TV" in there you'll find parental control. Turn it off and then switch back to your cable source.

Make sense. In other words turn off parental control

Thanks for the speedy response, but I can't find that anywhere.
What do you mean switch from cable to TV? I believe I'm in the TV mode. And I can find the parental controls, but there is no option to turn them off. Just options to lock certain channels.

OK, I found it. I have never seen something that made less sense.
I went to parental controls. There was something called "Rating Enable." I set it to "off," and that fixed it. PIP now works.

Yeah, while vizio makes a quality set, I find their menu system to be somewhat...lacking.

For example, when you want to switch view modes (zoom, wide, 4:3, etc.), you have to go into the menu a few levels. On other TVs, you can do this from the remote.

I guess thats the price you pay for not paying the price

Great set though, you'll be real happy with it.

Enjoy! I just got the 42" Vizio XVT and after a little navigation haven't had any issues. You got a great TV!

I also have a 47 inch Vizio and can't watch 2 different channels when using PIP / POP. I checked with Vizio Tech Support, and they said that as long as the signal for BOTH screens is coming from the same source (one DirecTV receiver), I can watch only 1 channel at a time (that both the primary screen and the PIP / POP screen will be the same channel). They said I would have to split the signal (and therefore use 2 different tuners) in order to watch 2 different channels. However, I CAN watch a TV channel along with a DVD using the PIP or POP functions. I can also watch a movie and get on-line at the same time with my laptop using POP. Hope this helps.
