On my LCD I don't have alot of big problems with blur or judder. Obviously compared to a plasma there is some amount of blurring but to me its not bad enough to ruin gameplay or really affect it, but that's my opinion, I am happy with the way it performs.

Wal Mart models are definitely Wal Mart models.

So you haven't tried any console systems on your VP 322?
Actually that Samsung LNA330 isn't specific to Walmart. That model is sold at Best Buy, Circ. City, Walmart, Target?, and the wholesale clubs.

Here's the think with the plasmas, use them for 200 hours FIRST, put it on like Discovery HD overnight for a few nights (with the volume turned down if you must) to let the Phosphors get seasoned. At the 200 Hour mark, you SHOULD not have any problems with IR.

Please note: Video games are notorious for creating Image Retention issues there are health bars, scores, timers, etc. that live in certain parts of the display and will simply not go away. Doing the 200 hour technique will wliminate any fear of IR.

Please note: This has been my experience with Samsung, Pioneer (Elite), Panasonic and LG. I have not had any personal experience with Visio.

I cant say this with certainty either but I think the rule on break in does apply on all plasma brands.

Does it matter if it's an HD channel or not? Would SD Discovery work too? I'm in a lowly dorm that only gets SD. Again, I'm only using this set for 360 games at the moment. I've read online about "break-in" discs you can download that have varying color patterns that flash continuously in an effort to remove any burn-in. However they run for like 60 mins so unless you want to be there for a repeat play it seems tedious (plus my 360 dvd drive has been acting up lately so I'm not too keen on that method). I'd go with discovery channel but am paranoid about their "logo" in the lower right of the screen that's typically plastered there at all times during shows. If that logo won't do much harm long-term I guess that'd be better than dealing with a burn-in-disc that may stop without me being around, and making a lot more damage occur.

Channel suggestions that have minimal or no logo presence during broadcasts (with 24/7 programming ie no infomercials)?

EDIT: Think I just found one (assuming SD channels can break-in as well as HD ones): Animal Planet doesn't seem to have any paid programming. 24/7 broadcasts M-S. Good times.

First:
It shouldn't matter what channel you are watching, HD or SD. So long as all the pixels are being used, all is well.

Second:
Personally, for the first night or so, I simply found a channel (I think it was Discover or something like that), then I just zoomed in as far as I could (with the VP322 in the TV input you can adjust the horizontal and vertical sizes, essentially creating your own aspect ratio). That way, I never had to worry about any channel logo remaining for too long.

Third:
You can also download one of those break-in-dvds that you mentioned. I know that you are concerned about the time when you would have to start it again. The one that I used and seems to be a very popular and free one runs for 24 hours. Should be plenty of time for you to remember to restart it. Here is the link, just follow the directions, it is very simple:

http://www.eaprogramming.com/downloa...nload_main.htm

I hope that addresses most of your questions and maybe gives you some ideas of how to address your issue. Good luck.

I believe a non HD channel would only work if it fills the whole screen. Make sure it does and be sure it doesnt have those vertical black bars on each side. The discovery logo itself shouldn't be too much of a problem because on average every ten minutes or so you'll have commercials, but I personally wouldn't risk it. Look for channels that don't have logos. It makes sense to me that as long as the SD channel fills the whole screen it should work for break in but I could be wrong.

Thx for all the great info! How long typically should burn-in last until the phosphors have settled in? I hear you shouldn't play games hardly at all until it's complete.

The Vp322 is the way to go! My xbox 360 games look great and the brightness is perfect! You don't have to worry about burn in or IR that much. You will get some IR at first but after a week it will rarely be there. I have had mine for 2 weeks and I have no IR! Trust me the Vizio 32' plasma is well worth it for gaming !

with all do respect, and I'm not an expert, but on my Panasonic TH-42PZ80U which is a Plasma I see PLENTY of motion blur, during fast movements of either the camera or any figure on screen! and the same thing on my parents Sony XBR960 which is a CRT, there is motion blur ! and it is not subtle either, my parents who are not experts either, noticed it! on some HD channles is worse than others...but it is there, on both TVs!

Is that a new Lee coined term - "necro bump"? I like it.
