Default I Am So FRUSTRATED !!!Need Help with my new Panasonic TH50PZ800U TV

The 3D Y/C Filter is blocked on my Panasonic 50PZ800U TV menu. Also the Color Matrix in the menu is blocked too. They are gray and I can't get to them ! I looked in the instruction booklet that came with the tv and it give's me NO information how to get to these thing's that are in the tv's menu.
Can anyone help me?
I went to MENU,then pressed Picture, and then pressed what kind of picture mode i want..I tried all of them-vivid,custom,standard,THX,Game...but still the 3D Y/C Filter was disabled !!!!

All of those items should be available in the custom mode.

I believe that the 3D Y/C Filter which is a digital comb filter is only used with 480i inputs. Switch to an analogue channel to see if it's still greyed out.

Hmmmmm! Interesting. Was it an OTA analogue channel viewed using an antenna? Or was it a 480i channel viewed via your HDMI connection?

Default This TV

i turned the tv to antenna mode in the menu and there was white snow..since I don't get regular tv through an antenna. It still does'nt make sense why this tv blocks me from 3 different option's I should have access to !
Color Matrix,3D Y/C Filter-which is set to off-not my doing !,24pDirect in. ALL are blocked !!!From what I remember about other tv's that have a 3D Y/C filter-that's ON give's the tv a better picture.
My hope is that I'll be able to view a better looking picture than this tv is giving me once I have access to these function's. I'm NOT impressed with the way the HD channel's look on this tv.It was a BIG Let Down. I was impressed with the Blue ray-1080p on this tv.It looked okay.

Default I Just Phoned Panasonic.

I just phoned Panasonic this morning on Sunday-The rep for Panasonic said that the 24p Direct In will be able to be unblocked when watching a blue ray dvd in 1080p mode. As for the 3D Y/C Filter..the earlier poster was right..you have to have some kind of a intenna signal only to access the 3D Y/C Filter...so,even though I changed from my satelite mode to antenna on my tv remote..I don't get any channels from an antenna,so therefore I can't access a antenna signal. He's got me on a long hold while he find's out why I can't access the Color Matrix function.
I asked the panasonic technical person on the phone today why don't they have this information for the buyer in their instruction manual..he had no answer.Though he had access to answer's that I did not.He was very helpful !

For Color Matrix, read pages 24 and 25 of your manual.

I know it's not easy but, if you want to take full advantage of the set's various settings, it's important to read the manual very thoroughly, due to the complexity of menu options.

I READ the manual inside out...As for Color Matrix..the Technical rep told me on the phone today that it cannot be accessed if your receiving high definition or digital channel's.

As was explained already, many settings only are available or will provide any benefit with particular signal types. (i.e. 3D Y/C filter is only going to help with SD/480i signals, and certain features only help with HD features).

This is how nearly, if not all displays work with certain features.

If possible, try playing an SD DVD on a progressive scan DVD player outputting @ 480p connected to your set through one of the Component inputs. Then try the control's settings. That is the signal type and the input Color Matrix should work with (see PFC5's post). Theoretically, the purpose of this control is to enhance color when inputting that type of signal. Whether or not it will make a difference only your eyes can judge.

Page 25 of the Manual does discuss this, but I agree that it's not made clear in sufficient detail.

Default I Exchanged The TV For A Sony KDL-40XBR4 LCD HDTV

I exchanged the Panasonic Plasma yesterday for a SONY 40 Inch XBR4 LCD HDTV.
We've owned a 46 Inch SONY XBR4 since last September 2007 and we love it-so I thought I might as well go with a sure thing and get a 40 inch xbr4 for myself. The picture is so sharp in 1080i.The blue ray in 1080p is not that good.I wonder what the ideal Blue Ray player would be for this XBR4 HDTV?Does anyone know?I use a Panasonic Blue Ray player and have had to update the software on it and still it does'nt give the best picture in 1080p.

So sorry to hear you had to exchange the Panasonic plasma but as to the Blu-ray player, Panasonic makes some of the best. I really don't think you can do any better. And how did the Panasonic player look when connected to the plasma?

The picture looked nice on the Panasonic Plasma I had.Not great, just very good.
About 4 year's ago I owned another SONY and played Blue Ray on it and the picture was very sharp and detailed. My guess is I need a new Blue Ray player.Have had my Blue Ray player about 4 year's.
The Panasonic BRP I have is'nt that good.
